Psalm 78 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

H4905Maschil[H8688] H623of AsaphH238. Give ear[H8685] H5971, O my peopleH8451, to my lawH5186: incline[H8685] H241your earsH561to the wordsH6310of my mouth.

H6605I will open[H8799] H6310my mouthH4912in a parableH5042: I will utter[H8686] H2420dark sayingsH6924of old:

H8085Which we have heard[H8804] H3045and known[H8799] H1, and our fathersH5608have told[H8765]  us.

H3582We will not hide[H8762] H1121them from their childrenH5608, shewing[H8764] H1755to the generationH314to comeH8416the praisesH3068of the LORDH5807, and his strengthH6381, and his wonderful works[H8737] H6213that he hath done[H8804] .

H6965For he established[H8686] H5715a testimonyH3290in JacobH7760, and appointed[H8804] H8451a lawH3478in IsraelH6680, which he commanded[H8765] H1our fathersH3045, that they should make them known[H8687] H1121to their children:

H1755That the generationH314to comeH3045might know[H8799] H1121them, even the childrenH3205which should be born[H8735] H6965; who should arise[H8799] H5608and declare[H8762] H1121them to their children:

H7760That they might set[H8799] H3689their hopeH430in GodH7911, and not forget[H8799] H4611the worksH410of GodH5341, but keep[H8799] H4687his commandments:

H1And might not be as their fathersH5637, a stubborn[H8802] H4784and rebellious[H8802] H1755generationH1755; a generationH3559that setH3820not their heartH3559aright[H8689] H7307, and whose spiritH539was not stedfast[H8738] H410with God.

H1121The childrenH669of EphraimH5401, being armed[H8802] H7411, and carrying[H8802] H7198bowsH2015, turned back[H8804] H3117in the dayH7128of battle.

H8104They kept[H8804] H1285not the covenantH430of GodH3985, and refused[H8765] H3212to walk[H8800] H8451in his law;

H7911And forgat[H8799] H5949his worksH6381, and his wonders[H8737] H7200that he had shewed[H8689]  them.

H6382Marvellous thingsH6213did[H8804] H5048he in the sightH1of their fathersH776, in the landH4714of EgyptH7704, in the fieldH6814of Zoan.

H1234He divided[H8804] H3220the seaH5674, and caused them to pass through[H8686] H4325; and he made the watersH5324to stand[H8686] H5067as an heap.

H3119In the daytimeH5148also he led[H8686] H6051them with a cloudH3915, and all the nightH216with a lightH784of fire.

H1234He clave[H8762] H6697the rocksH4057in the wildernessH8248, and gave them drink[H8686] H7227as out of the greatH8415depths.

H3318He brought[H8686] H5140streams[H8802] H5553also out of the rockH4325, and caused watersH3381to run down[H8686] H5104like rivers.

H2398And they sinned[H8800] H3254yet more[H8686] H4784against him by provoking[H8687] H5945the most HighH6723in the wilderness.

H5254And they tempted[H8762] H410GodH3824in their heartH7592by asking[H8800] H400meatH5315for their lust.

H1696Yea, they spake[H8762] H430against GodH559; they said[H8804] H3201, Can[H8799] H410GodH6186furnish[H8800] H7979a tableH4057in the wilderness?

H5221Behold, he smote[H8689] H6697the rockH4325, that the watersH2100gushed out[H8799] H5158, and the streamsH7857overflowed[H8799] H3201; can[H8799] H5414he give[H8800] H3899breadH3201also? can[H8799] H3559he provide[H8686] H7607fleshH5971for his people?

H3068Therefore the LORDH8085heard[H8804] H5674this, and was wroth[H8691] H784: so a fireH5400was kindled[H8738] H3290against JacobH639, and angerH5927also came up[H8804] H3478against Israel;

H539Because they believed[H8689] H430not in GodH982, and trusted[H8804] H3444not in his salvation:

H6680Though he had commanded[H8762] H7834the cloudsH4605from aboveH6605, and opened[H8804] H1817the doorsH8064of heaven,

H4305And had rained down[H8686] H4478mannaH398upon them to eat[H8800] H5414, and had given[H8804] H1715them of the cornH8064of heaven.

H376ManH398did eat[H8804] H47angelsH3899' foodH7971: he sent[H8804] H6720them meatH7648to the full.

H6921He caused an east windH5265to blow[H8686] H8064in the heavenH5797: and by his powerH5090he brought in[H8762] H8486the south wind.

H4305He rained[H8686] H7607fleshH6083also upon them as dustH3671, and featheredH5775fowlsH2344like as the sandH3220of the sea:

H5307And he let it fall[H8686] H7130in the midstH4264of their campH5439, round aboutH4908their habitations.

H398So they did eat[H8799] H3966, and were wellH7646filled[H8799] H935: for he gave[H8686] H8378them their own desire;

H2114They were not estranged[H8804] H8378from their lustH400. But while their meatH6310was yet in their mouths,

H639The wrathH430of GodH5927came[H8804] H2026upon them, and slew[H8799] H4924the fattestH3766of them, and smote down[H8689] H970the chosenH3478men of Israel.

H2398For all this they sinned[H8804] H539still, and believed[H8689] H6381not for his wondrous works[H8737] .

H3117Therefore their daysH3615did he consume[H8762] H1892in vanityH8141, and their yearsH928in trouble.

H2026When he slew[H8804] H1875them, then they sought[H8804] H7725him: and they returned[H8804] H7836and enquired early[H8765] H410after God.

H2142And they remembered[H8799] H430that GodH6697was their rockH5945, and the highH410GodH1350their redeemer[H8802] .

H6601Nevertheless they did flatter[H8762] H6310him with their mouthH3576, and they lied[H8762] H3956unto him with their tongues.

H3820For their heartH3559was not right[H8737] H539with him, neither were they stedfast[H8738] H1285in his covenant.

H7349But he, being full of compassionH3722, forgave[H8762] H5771their iniquityH7843, and destroyed[H8686] H7235them not: yea, many a time[H8689] H7725turnedH639he his angerH7725away[H8687] H5782, and did not stir up[H8686] H2534all his wrath.

H2142For he remembered[H8799] H1320that they were but fleshH7307; a windH1980that passeth away[H8802] H7725, and cometh not again[H8799] .

H4100HowH4784oft did they provoke[H8686] H4057him in the wildernessH6087, and grieve[H8686] H3452him in the desert!

H7725Yea, they turned back[H8799] H5254and tempted[H8762] H410GodH8428, and limited[H8689] H6918the Holy OneH3478of Israel.

H2142They remembered[H8804] H3027not his handH3117, nor the dayH6299when he delivered[H8804] H6862them from the enemy.

H7760How he had wrought[H8804] H226his signsH4714in EgyptH4159, and his wondersH7704in the fieldH6814of Zoan:

H2015And had turned[H8799] H2975their riversH1818into bloodH5140; and their floods[H8802] H8354, that they could not drink[H8799] .

H7971He sent[H8762] H6157divers sorts of fliesH398among them, which devoured[H8799] H6854them; and frogsH7843, which destroyed[H8686]  them.

H5414He gave[H8799] H2981also their increaseH2625unto the caterpillerH3018, and their labourH697unto the locust.

H2026He destroyed[H8799] H1612their vinesH1259with hailH8256, and their sycomore treesH2602with frost.

H5462He gave up[H8686] H1165their cattleH1259also to the hailH4735, and their flocksH7565to hot thunderbolts.

H7971He cast[H8762] H2740upon them the fiercenessH639of his angerH5678, wrathH2195, and indignationH6869, and troubleH4917, by sendingH7451evilH4397angels among them .

H6424He made[H8762] H5410a wayH639to his angerH2820; he spared[H8804] H5315not their soulH4194from deathH5462, but gaveH2416their lifeH5462over[H8689] H1698to the pestilence;

H5221And smote[H8686] H1060all the firstbornH4714in EgyptH7225; the chiefH202of their strengthH168in the tabernaclesH2526of Ham:

H5971But made his own peopleH5265to go forth[H8686] H6629like sheepH5090, and guided[H8762] H4057them in the wildernessH5739like a flock.

H5148And he led[H8686] H983them on safelyH6342, so that they feared[H8804] H3220not: but the seaH3680overwhelmed[H8765] H341their enemies[H8802] .

H935And he brought[H8686] H1366them to the borderH6944of his sanctuaryH2022, even to this mountainH3225, which his right handH7069had purchased[H8804] .

H1644He cast out[H8762] H1471the heathenH6440also beforeH5307them, and divided[H8686] H5159them an inheritanceH2256by lineH7626, and made the tribesH3478of IsraelH7931to dwell[H8686] H168in their tents.

H5254Yet they tempted[H8762] H4784and provoked[H8686] H5945the most highH430GodH8104, and kept[H8804] H5713not his testimonies:

H5472But turned back[H8735] H898, and dealt unfaithfully[H8799] H1like their fathersH2015: they were turned aside[H8738] H7423like a deceitfulH7198bow.

H3707For they provoked him to anger[H8686] H1116with their high placesH7065, and moved him to jealousy[H8686] H6456with their graven images.

H430When GodH8085heard[H8804] H5674this, he was wroth[H8691] H3966, and greatlyH3988abhorred[H8799] H3478Israel:

H5203So that he forsook[H8799] H4908the tabernacleH7887of ShilohH168, the tentH7931which he placed[H8765] H120among men;

H5414And delivered[H8799] H5797his strengthH7628into captivityH8597, and his gloryH6862into the enemy'sH3027hand.

H5462He gaveH5971his peopleH5462over[H8686] H2719also unto the swordH5674; and was wroth[H8694] H5159with his inheritance.

H784The fireH398consumed[H8804] H970their young menH1330; and their maidensH1984were not given to marriage[H8795] .

H3548Their priestsH5307fell[H8804] H2719by the swordH490; and their widowsH1058made no lamentation[H8799] .

H136Then the LordH3364awaked[H8799] H3463as one out of sleepH1368, and like a mighty manH7442that shouteth[H8711] H3196by reason of wine.

H5221And he smote[H8686] H6862his enemiesH268in the hinder partsH5414: he put[H8804] H5769them to a perpetualH2781reproach.

H3988Moreover he refused[H8799] H168the tabernacleH3130of JosephH977, and chose[H8804] H7626not the tribeH669of Ephraim:

H977But chose[H8799] H7626the tribeH3063of JudahH2022, the mountH6726ZionH157which he loved[H8804] .

H1129And he built[H8799] H4720his sanctuaryH7311like high[H8802] H776palaces, like the earthH3245which he hath established[H8804] H5769for ever.

H977He chose[H8799] H1732DavidH5650also his servantH3947, and took[H8799] H4356him from the sheepfoldsH6629 :

H310From followingH5763the ewes great with young[H8802] H935he brought[H8689] H7462him to feed[H8800] H3290JacobH5971his peopleH3478, and IsraelH5159his inheritance.

H7462So he fed[H8686] H8537them according to the integrityH3824of his heartH5148; and guided[H8686] H8394them by the skilfulnessH3709of his hands.
