² H559And said[H8799] H8104unto them, Ye have kept[H8804] H4872all that MosesH5650the servantH3068of the LORDH6680commanded[H8765] H8085you, and have obeyed[H8799] H6963my voiceH6680in all that I commanded[H8765]  you:

³ H5800Ye have not left[H8804] H251your brethrenH7227these manyH3117daysH3117unto this dayH8104, but have kept[H8804] H4931the chargeH4687of the commandmentH3068of the LORDH430your God.

⁴ H3068And now the LORDH430your GodH5117hath given rest[H8689] H251unto your brethrenH1696, as he promised[H8765] H6437them: therefore now return[H8798] H3212ye, and get[H8798] H168you unto your tentsH776, and unto the landH272of your possessionH4872, which MosesH5650the servantH3068of the LORDH5414gave[H8804] H5676you on the other sideH3383Jordan.

⁵ H3966But take diligentH8104heed[H8798] H6213to do[H8800] H4687the commandmentH8451and the lawH4872, which MosesH5650the servantH3068of the LORDH6680charged[H8765] H157you, to love[H8800] H3068the LORDH430your GodH3212, and to walk[H8800] H1870in all his waysH8104, and to keep[H8800] H4687his commandmentsH1692, and to cleave[H8800] H5647unto him, and to serve[H8800] H3824him with all your heartH5315and with all your soul.

⁶ H3091So JoshuaH1288blessed[H8762] H7971them, and sent them away[H8762] H3212: and they went[H8799] H168unto their tents.

⁷ H2677Now to the one halfH7626of the tribeH4519of ManassehH4872MosesH5414had given[H8804] H1316possession in BashanH2677: but unto the other halfH5414thereof gave[H8804] H3091JoshuaH5973amongH251their brethrenH5676on this sideH3383JordanH3220westwardH3091. And when JoshuaH7971sent them away[H8765] H168also unto their tentsH1288, then he blessed[H8762]  them,

⁸ H559And he spake[H8799] H559unto them, saying[H8800] H7725, Return[H8798] H7227with muchH5233richesH168unto your tentsH3966, and with veryH7227muchH4735cattleH3701, with silverH2091, and with goldH5178, and with brassH1270, and with ironH3966, and with veryH7235much[H8687] H8008raimentH2505: divide[H8798] H7998the spoilH341of your enemies[H8802] H251with your brethren.

⁹ H1121And the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121and the childrenH1410of GadH2677and the halfH7626tribeH4519of ManassehH7725returned[H8799] H3212, and departed[H8799] H1121from the childrenH3478of IsraelH7887out of ShilohH776, which is in the landH3667of CanaanH3212, to go[H8800] H776unto the countryH1568of GileadH776, to the landH272of their possessionH270, whereof they were possessed[H8738] H6310, according to the wordH3068of the LORDH3027by the handH4872of Moses.

¹⁰ H935And when they came[H8799] H1552unto the bordersH3383of JordanH776, that are in the landH3667of CanaanH1121, the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121and the childrenH1410of GadH2677and the halfH7626tribeH4519of ManassehH1129built[H8799] H4196there an altarH3383by JordanH1419, a greatH4196altarH4758to see to.

¹¹ H1121And the childrenH3478of IsraelH8085heard[H8799] H559say[H8800] H1121, Behold, the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121and the childrenH1410of GadH2677and the halfH7626tribeH4519of ManassehH1129have built[H8804] H4196an altarH4136over againstH776the landH3667of CanaanH1552, in the bordersH3383of JordanH5676, at the passageH1121of the childrenH3478of Israel.

¹² H1121And when the childrenH3478of IsraelH8085heard[H8799] H5712of it, the whole congregationH1121of the childrenH3478of IsraelH6950gathered themselves together[H8735] H7887at ShilohH5927, to go up[H8800] H6635to war against them.

¹³ H1121And the childrenH3478of IsraelH7971sent[H8799] H1121unto the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121, and to the childrenH1410of GadH2677, and to the halfH7626tribeH4519of ManassehH776, into the landH1568of GileadH6372, PhinehasH1121the sonH499of EleazarH3548the priest,

¹⁴ H6235And with him tenH5387princesH259, of eachH259 H5387chiefH5387 H1004houseH1a princeH4294throughout all the tribesH3478of IsraelH376; and each oneH7218was an headH1004of the houseH1of their fathersH505among the thousandsH3478of Israel.

¹⁵ H935And they came[H8799] H1121unto the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121, and to the childrenH1410of GadH2677, and to the halfH7626tribeH4519of ManassehH776, unto the landH1568of GileadH1696, and they spake[H8762] H559with them, saying[H8800] ,

¹⁶ H559Thus saith[H8804] H5712the whole congregationH3068of the LORDH4604, What trespassH4603is this that ye have committed[H8804] H430against the GodH3478of IsraelH7725, to turn away[H8800] H3117this dayH310from followingH3068the LORDH1129, in that ye have builded[H8800] H4196you an altarH4775, that ye might rebel[H8800] H3117this dayH3068against the LORD?

¹⁷ H5771Is the iniquityH6465of PeorH4592too littleH2891for us, from which we are not cleansed[H8694] H3117until this dayH5063, although there was a plagueH5712in the congregationH3068of the LORD,

¹⁸ H7725But that ye must turn away[H8799] H3117this dayH310from followingH3068the LORDH4775? and it will be, seeing ye rebel[H8799] H3117to dayH3068against the LORDH4279, that to morrowH7107he will be wroth[H8799] H5712with the whole congregationH3478of Israel.

¹⁹ H389NotwithstandingH776, if the landH272of your possessionH2931be uncleanH5674, then pass ye over[H8798] H776unto the landH272of the possessionH3068of the LORDH3068, wherein the LORD'SH4908tabernacleH7931dwelleth[H8804] H270, and take possession[H8734] H8432amongH4775us: but rebel[H8799] H3068not against the LORDH408, norH4775rebel[H8799] H1129against us, in building[H8800] H4196you an altarH1107besideH4196the altarH3068of the LORDH430our God.

²⁰ H5912Did not AchanH1121the sonH2226of ZerahH4603commit[H8804] H4604a trespassH2764in the accursed thingH7110, and wrathH1961fell[H8804] H5712on all the congregationH3478of IsraelH376? and that manH1478perished[H8804] H259not aloneH5771in his iniquity.

²¹ H1121Then the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121and the childrenH1410of GadH2677and the halfH7626tribeH4519of ManassehH6030answered[H8799] H1696, and said[H8762] H7218unto the headsH505of the thousandsH3478of Israel,

²² H3068The LORDH410GodH430of godsH3068, the LORDH410GodH430of godsH3045, he knoweth[H8802] H3478, and IsraelH3045he shall know[H8799] H4777; if it be in rebellionH4604, or if in transgressionH3068against the LORDH3467, (save[H8686] H3117us not this day,)

²³ H1129That we have built[H8800] H4196us an altarH7725to turn[H8800] H310from followingH3068the LORDH5927, or if to offer[H8687] H5930thereon burnt offeringH4503or meat offeringH6213, or if to offer[H8800] H8002peaceH2077offeringsH3068thereon, let the LORDH1245himself require[H8762]  it;

²⁴ H6213And if we have not rather done[H8804] H1674it for fearH1697of this thingH559, saying[H8800] H4279, In time to comeH1121your childrenH559might speak[H8799] H1121unto our childrenH559, saying[H8800] H3068, What have ye to do with the LORDH430GodH3478of Israel?

²⁵ H3068For the LORDH5414hath made[H8804] H3383JordanH1366a borderH1121between us and you, ye childrenH7205of ReubenH1121and childrenH1410of GadH2506; ye have no partH3068in the LORDH1121: so shall your childrenH7673makeH1121our childrenH7673cease[H8689] H1115fromH3372fearing[H8800] H3068the LORD.

²⁶ H559Therefore we said[H8799] H6213, Let us now prepare[H8799] H1129to build[H8800] H4196us an altarH5930, not for burnt offeringH2077, nor for sacrifice:

²⁷ H5707But that it may be a witnessH1755between us, and you, and our generationsH310afterH5647us, that we might do[H8800] H5656the serviceH3068of the LORDH6440beforeH5930him with our burnt offeringsH2077, and with our sacrificesH8002, and with our peace offeringsH1121; that your childrenH559may not say[H8799] H1121to our childrenH4279in time to comeH2506, Ye have no partH3068in the LORD.

²⁸ H559Therefore said[H8799] H559we, that it shall be, when they should so say[H8799] H1755to us or to our generationsH4279in time to comeH559, that we may say[H8804] H7200again, Behold[H8798] H8403the patternH4196of the altarH3068of the LORDH1, which our fathersH6213made[H8804] H5930, not for burnt offeringsH2077, nor for sacrificesH5707; but it is a witness between us and you.

²⁹ H2486God forbidH4775that we should rebel[H8800] H3068against the LORDH7725, and turn[H8800] H3117this dayH310from followingH3068the LORDH1129, to build[H8800] H4196an altarH5930for burnt offeringsH4503, for meat offeringsH2077, or for sacrificesH4196, beside the altarH3068of the LORDH430our GodH6440that is beforeH4908his tabernacle.

³⁰ H6372And when PhinehasH3548the priestH5387, and the princesH5712of the congregationH7218and headsH505of the thousandsH3478of IsraelH8085which were with him, heard[H8799] H1697the wordsH1121that the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121and the childrenH1410of GadH1121and the childrenH4519of ManassehH1696spake[H8765] H3190, it pleased[H8799] H5869  them.

³¹ H6372And PhinehasH1121the sonH499of EleazarH3548the priestH559said[H8799] H1121unto the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121, and to the childrenH1410of GadH1121, and to the childrenH4519of ManassehH3117, This dayH3045we perceive[H8804] H3068that the LORDH8432is amongH4603us, because ye have not committed[H8804] H4604this trespassH3068against the LORDH227: nowH5337ye have delivered[H8689] H1121the childrenH3478of IsraelH3027out of the handH3068of the LORD.

³² H6372And PhinehasH1121the sonH499of EleazarH3548the priestH5387, and the princesH7725, returned[H8799] H1121from the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121, and from the childrenH1410of GadH776, out of the landH1568of GileadH776, unto the landH3667of CanaanH1121, to the childrenH3478of IsraelH7725, and broughtH1697them wordH7725again[H8686] .

³³ H1697And the thingH3190pleased[H8799] H5869 H1121the childrenH3478of IsraelH1121; and the childrenH3478of IsraelH1288blessed[H8762] H430GodH559, and did not intend[H8804] H5927to go up[H8800] H6635against them in battleH7843, to destroy[H8763] H776the landH1121wherein the childrenH7205of ReubenH1410and GadH3427dwelt[H8802] .

³⁴ H1121And the childrenH7205of ReubenH1121and the childrenH1410of GadH7121called[H8799] H4196the altarH5707Ed : for it shall be a witnessH3068between us that the LORDH430is God.
