The evil person won’t escape the darkness.\par He will be like a tree\par whose leaves die from disease\par and a wind blows them all away.\par
God has blocked my way\par so I can’t go through.\par He has hidden my path in darkness.\par
I wish that day had stayed dark—\par as dark as death.\par I wish clouds would hide that day.\par I wish black clouds could\par scare away the light\par from the day I was born.\par
Why? To warn that person and to save\par his soul from the place of death {\cf2\super [74]} \par so that person can enjoy his life.\par
So if people are punished,\par if they are tied with chains and ropes\par then they did something wrong.\par
And he will hear the prisoner’s prayers.\par He will free the people\par who were condemned to die.\par
Some of God’s people were prisoners,\par locked behind bars in dark, dark prisons.\par
I am your servant,\par a child of one of your servant women.\par Lord, you were my first teacher!\par
The Lord does right things for people\par who have been hurt.\par God gives food to hungry people.\par The Lord frees people locked in prison.\par
God gives lonely people a home.\par God takes his people out of prison.\par They are very happy.\par But people who turn against God,\par will stay in their hot prison.\par
Then I will lead the blind people\par in a way they never knew.\par I will lead the blind people\par to places they have never been before.\par I will change darkness into light for them.\par And I will make the rough ground smooth.\par I will do the things I promised!\par And I will not leave my people.\par
You will tell the prisoners,\par ‘Come out of your prison!’\par You will tell the people that are in darkness,\par ‘Come out of the dark!’\par The people will eat while traveling.\par They will have food even on empty hills.\par

But during the night, an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail. The angel led the apostles outside and said,
Then another man came and told them, “Listen! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple yard. They are teaching the people!”
In the past you were \{full of\} darkness (sin), but now you are \{full of\} light (goodness) in the Lord. So live like children who belong to the light.
But you are chosen people. You are the King’s priests. You are a holy {\cf2\super [20]} nation of people. You are people who belong to God. God chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He called (brought) you out of darkness (sin) into his wonderful light.
