\{Nehemiah prayed to God. He said,\} “Our God, listen to our prayer. Those men hate us. Sanballat and Tobiah are insulting us. Make those bad things happen to them. Make them ashamed, like people taken away as prisoners.
God, remember, you made me like clay.\par Will you make into clay again?\par
God, remember, my life is only a breath.\par I will never see anything good again.\par
Lord, see my suffering and rescue me.\par I have not forgotten your teachings.\par
God, remember these things.\par Remember, the enemy insulted you!\par Those foolish people hate your name!\par

The countries around us insulted us.\par The people around us laughed at us\par and made fun of us.\par

All the people of Jerusalem are groaning.\par All of her people are looking for food.\par They are giving away all their nice things for food.\par They are doing this to keep alive.\par Jerusalem says,\par “Look, Lord. Look at me!\par See how people hate me.\par
“Look at me, Lord. I am in distress!\par My insides are upset!\par My heart feels like it has turned\par upside down inside me!\par My heart feels this way\par because I have been so stubborn!\par In the streets, the sword killed my children.\par Inside the houses, death was there.\par
Jerusalem’s skirts became dirty.\par She didn’t think about the things\par that would happen to her.\par Her fall was amazing.\par She had no person to comfort her.\par She says,\par “Lord, see how I am hurt!\par See how my enemy thinks he is so great!”\par
The people that pass by on the road\par clap their hands at you in shock.\par They whistle and shake their heads\par at the Daughter of Jerusalem.\par They ask,\par “Is this the city that people called,\par ‘The Perfectly Beautiful City’ and\par ‘The Joy of all the Earth’?”\par
Look at me, Lord!\par See who it is\par that you have treated this way!\par Let me ask this question:\par Should women eat the children\par they have given birth to?\par Should women eat the children\par that they have cared for?\par Should priest and prophet\par be killed in the temple of the Lord?\par
Lord, remember,\par I am very sad.\par And I have no home.\par Remember the bitter poison (punishment)\par that you gave me.\par
I will continue to cry\par until you look down and see us, Lord!\par I will continue to cry\par until you see us from heaven!\par
You heard them insult me, Lord.\par You have heard all the evil plans\par that they made against me.\par
