Psalm 74 - Easy To Read Version

¹ God, did you leave us forever?\par Are you still angry at your people?\par

² Remember the people you bought\par long ago.\par You saved us.\par We belong to you.\par Remember Mount Zion, {\cf2\super [422]} \par the place that you lived.\par

³ God, come walk through these\par ancient ruins.\par Come back to the Holy Place\par that the enemy destroyed.\par

⁴ The enemy shouted their war cries\par in the temple.\par They put their flags in the temple to show\par they won the war.\par

⁵ The enemy soldiers were like people\par cutting weeds with a hoe.\par

⁶ God, they used their axes and hatchets,\par and cut the carved, wooden panels\par in your temple.\par

⁷ Those soldiers burned your Holy Place.\par That temple was built to honor your name.\par But they pulled it down to the ground.\par

⁸ The enemy decided to crush us completely.\par They burned every holy place {\cf2\super [423]} \par in the country.\par

⁹ We could not see any of our own signs. {\cf2\super [424]} \par There are no more prophets.\par No person knows what to do.\par

¹⁰ God, how much longer will the enemy\par make fun of us?\par Will you let them insult your name forever?\par

¹¹ God, why did you punish us so hard?\par You used your great power\par and destroyed us completely!\par

¹² God, you have been our King\par for a long time.\par You helped us win many battles\par in this country.\par

¹³ God, you used your great power,\par to split open the Red Sea.\par

¹⁴ You defeated the great sea monsters!\par You smashed the heads of Leviathan, {\cf2\super [425]} \par and left his body for the animals to eat.\par

¹⁵ You make the springs and rivers flow.\par And you make the rivers become dry.\par

¹⁶ God, you control the day,\par and you control the night.\par You made the moon and the sun.\par

¹⁷ You set the limits for everything on earth.\par And you created summer and winter.\par

¹⁸ God, remember these things.\par Remember, the enemy insulted you!\par Those foolish people hate your name!\par

¹⁹ Don’t let those wild animals take your dove!\par Don’t forget your poor people forever.\par

²⁰ Remember our Agreement! {\cf2\super [426]} \par There is violence in every dark place\par in this land.\par

²¹ God, your people were treated badly.\par Don’t let them be hurt any more.\par Your poor, helpless people praise you.\par

²² God, get up and fight!\par Remember, those fools challenged you!\par

²³ Don’t forget the shouts of your enemies.\par They insulted you again and again.\par
