Psalm 79 - Easy To Read Version

¹ God, some people from other nations\par came to fight your people.\par Those people ruined your holy temple.\par They left Jerusalem in ruins.\par

² The enemy left the bodies of your servants\par for the wild birds to eat.\par They left the bodies of your followers\par for wild animals to eat.\par

³ God, the enemy killed your people\par until the blood flowed like water.\par No person is left to bury the dead bodies.\par

⁴ The countries around us insulted us.\par The people around us laughed at us\par and made fun of us.\par

⁵ God, will you be angry at us forever?\par Will your strong feelings {\cf2\super [455]} \par continue to burn like a fire?\par

⁶ God, turn your anger against the nations that don’t know you.\par Turn your anger against nations\par that don’t worship your name.\par

⁷ Those nations destroyed Jacob. {\cf2\super [456]} \par They destroyed Jacob’s country.\par

⁸ God, please don’t punish us for the sins of our ancestors. {\cf2\super [457]} \par Hurry, show us your mercy!\par We need you so much!\par

⁹ Our God and Savior, help us!\par Help us! Save us!\par That will bring glory to your name.\par Erase our sins for the good of your name.\par

¹⁰ Don’t let other nations say to us,\par “Where is your God?\par Can’t he help you?”\par God, punish those people so we can see it.\par Punish them for killing your servants.\par

¹¹ Please listen to the prisoners’ groan!\par God, use your great power and save\par the people who were chosen to die.\par

¹² God, punish the people around us\par seven times for what they did to us.\par Punish those people for insulting you.\par

¹³ We are your people.\par We are the sheep in your flock.\par We will praise you forever.\par God, we will praise you\par forever and ever.\par
