⁴ H6213They did work[H8799] H6195wililyH3212, and went[H8799] H6737and made as if they had been ambassadors[H8691] H3947, and took[H8799] H1087oldH8242sacksH2543upon their assesH3196, and wineH4997bottlesH1087, oldH1234, and rent[H8794] H6887, and bound up[H8794] ;

¹⁸ H1121And the childrenH3478of IsraelH5221smote[H8689] H5387them not, because the princesH5712of the congregationH7650had sworn[H8738] H3068unto them by the LORDH430GodH3478of IsraelH5712. And all the congregationH3885murmured[H8735] H5387against the princes.

¹⁹ H5387But all the princesH559said[H8799] H5712unto all the congregationH7650, We have sworn[H8738] H3068unto them by the LORDH430GodH3478of IsraelH3201: now therefore we may[H8799] H5060not touch[H8800]  them.

²⁰ H6213This we will do[H8799] H2421to them; we will even let them live[H8687] H7110, lest wrathH7621be upon us, because of the oathH7650which we sware[H8738]  unto them.

²¹ H5387And the princesH559said[H8799] H2421unto them, Let them live[H8799] H2404; but let them be hewers[H8802] H6086of woodH7579and drawers[H8802] H4325of waterH5712unto all the congregationH5387; as the princesH1696had promised[H8765]  them.

²² H3091And JoshuaH7121called[H8799] H1696for them, and he spake[H8762] H559unto them, saying[H8800] H7411, Wherefore have ye beguiled[H8765] H559us, saying[H8800] H3966, We are veryH7350farH3427from you; when ye dwell[H8802] H7130among us?

²³ H779Now therefore ye are cursed[H8803] H3772, and there shall none of you be freed[H8735] H5650from being bondmenH2404, and hewers[H8802] H6086of woodH7579and drawers[H8802] H4325of waterH1004for the houseH430of my God.

²⁴ H6030And they answered[H8799] H3091JoshuaH559, and said[H8799] H5046, Because it was certainly[H8715] H5046told[H8717] H5650thy servantsH3068, how that the LORDH430thy GodH6680commanded[H8765] H5650his servantH4872MosesH5414to give[H8800] H776you all the landH8045, and to destroy[H8687] H3427all the inhabitants[H8802] H776of the landH6440from beforeH3966you, therefore we were soreH3372afraid[H8799] H5315of our livesH6440becauseH6213of you, and have done[H8799] H1697this thing.

²⁵ H2009And now, behold, weH3027are in thine handH5869: as it seemethH2896goodH3477and rightH6213unto thee to do[H8800] H6213unto us, do[H8798] .

²⁶ H6213And so did[H8799] H5337he unto them, and delivered[H8686] H3027them out of the handH1121of the childrenH3478of IsraelH2026, that they slew[H8804]  them not.

²⁷ H3091And JoshuaH5414made[H8799] H3117them that dayH2404hewers[H8802] H6086of woodH7579and drawers[H8802] H4325of waterH5712for the congregationH4196, and for the altarH3068of the LORDH3117, even unto this dayH4725, in the placeH977which he should choose[H8799] .
