Then Abraham said, “Compared to you, Lord, I am only dust and ashes. But let me bother you again and ask you this question:

Then Abraham said, “Compared to you, Lord, I am only dust and ashes. But let me bother you again and ask you this question:
The servant said, “Lord, you are the God of my master Abraham. Allow me to find a wife for his son today. Please show this kindness to my master Abraham.
The servant said, “Blessed is the Lord, the God of my master Abraham. The Lord has been kind and loyal to my master. The Lord has led me to the right girl for my master’s son.”
And then Jacob saw the Lord standing by the ladder. The Lord said, “I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham. I am the God of Isaac. I will give you the land that you are lying on now. I will give this land to you and to your children.
“I am with you, and I will protect you every place you go. And I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised.”
In this way, Jacob became very rich. He had large flocks, many servants, camels, and donkeys.
The Lord said to Jacob, “Go back to your own land where your ancestors [181] lived. I will be with you.”
I have many cows, donkeys, flocks, and men and women servants. Sir, I am sending you this message to ask you to accept us.’”
That message scared Jacob. He divided the people who were with him into two groups. He divided all the flocks and the herds and the camels into two groups.
Then King David went in and sat in front of the Lord. David said, “Lord, my Master, why am I so important to you? Why is my family important? Why have you made me so important?
But good people continue to live right.\par Innocent people will become stronger.\par
I said to the Lord,\par “Lord, you are my Master.\par Every good thing I have comes from you.” {\cf2\super [84]} \par
God, you protected me\par and helped me win.\par You supported me with your right arm.\par You helped me defeat my enemy.\par
Let him live with God forever!\par Protect him with your true love.\par
\{But people are important to you!\}\par You made people {\cf2\super [43]} almost like gods.\par And you crowned them\par with glory and honor.\par
The people travel from town to town, {\cf2\super [486]} \par on their way to Zion,\par where they will meet with God.\par
God’s true love will meet his followers.\par Goodness and peace will greet them\par with a kiss.\par
Good people are like the early morning light. The sun rises and the day becomes brighter and happier.
I became very scared. I said, “Oh, no! I will be destroyed. I am not pure (good) enough to speak to God. And I live among people that are not pure enough to speak to God. {\cf2\super [66]} Yet I have seen the King, the Lord All-Powerful.”
I will remember that the Lord is kind.\par And I will remember to praise the Lord.\par The Lord gave many good things to the family of Israel.\par The Lord has been very kind to us.\par The Lord showed mercy to us.\par
\{God,\} please be true to Jacob, {\cf2\super [82]} \par Be kind and loyal to Abraham, {\cf2\super [83]} \par like you promised our ancestors {\cf2\super [84]} \par a long time ago.\par
It is the same with you. When you do all the things you are told to do, you should say, ‘We are not worthy of any special thanks. We have only done the work we should do.’”
I have been \{talking like\} a fool. But you made me do it. You people are the ones who should say good things about me. I am worth nothing, but those “great apostles {\cf2\super [46]} ” are not worth any more than I am!
Remember the Lord your God. Remember that he is the One who gives you power to do those things! Why does the Lord do this? Because he wants to keep the Agreement that he made with your ancestors [55] —just like he is doing today!
Young men, I have something to say to you, too. You should accept the authority of the elders. {\cf2\super [32]} All of you should be very humble with each other.
