Isaiah 63 - Easy To Read Version1 Who is this coming from Edom? {\cf2\super [457]} \par He comes from Bozrah. {\cf2\super [458]} \par And his clothes are stained bright red.\par He is glorious in his clothes.\par He is walking tall with his great power.\par He says,\par “I have the power to save you.\par And I speak the truth.”\par 2 “Why are your clothes bright red?\par They are like the clothes of a person\par that walks on grapes to make wine!”\par 3 \{He answers,\}\par “I walked in the winepress {\cf2\super [459]} by myself.\par No one helped me.\par I was angry and I walked on the grapes.\par The juice {\cf2\super [460]} splashed on my clothes.\par So now my clothes are dirty.\par 4 I chose a time to punish people.\par Now the time has come for me\par to save and protect my people.\par 5 I looked around, but I saw no person\par to help me.\par I was surprised that no one supported me.\par So I used my own power\par to save my people.\par My own anger supported me.\par 6 While I was angry, I walked on people.\par I punished them while I was mad.\par I poured their blood {\cf2\super [461]} on the ground.”\par 7 I will remember that the Lord is kind.\par And I will remember to praise the Lord.\par The Lord gave many good things to the family of Israel.\par The Lord has been very kind to us.\par The Lord showed mercy to us.\par 8 The Lord said,\par “These are my people.\par These are my real children.”\par So the Lord saved those people.\par 9 The people had many troubles,\par but the Lord was not against them.\par The Lord loved the people\par and felt sorry for them.\par So the Lord saved them.\par He sent his special angel to save them.\par He picked them up and carried them,\par and \{he will take care of them\} forever.\par 10 But the people turned against the Lord.\par They made his Holy Spirit very sad.\par So the Lord became their enemy.\par The Lord fought against those people.\par 11 But the Lord still remembers\par what happened a long time ago.\par He remembers Moses and his people.\par The Lord is the One who brought the people through the sea.\par The Lord used his shepherds (prophets)\par to lead his flock (people).\par But where is the Lord now—\par the One who put his Spirit in Moses?\par 12 The Lord led Moses by the right hand.\par The Lord used his wonderful power\par to lead Moses.\par The Lord divided the water\par so that the people could walk\par through the sea.\par The Lord made his name famous\par by doing those great things.\par 13 The Lord led the people\par through the deep seas.\par The people walked without falling,\par like a horse walking through the desert.\par 14 A cow does not fall,\par just walking in the field.\par \{In the same way, the people did not fall\par while going through the sea.\}\par The Lord’s Spirit led the people\par to a resting place.\par The people were safe the whole time.\par Lord, that is the way\par you led your people.\par You led the people\par and you made your name wonderful.\par 15 Lord, look down from the heavens.\par See the things that are happening now!\par Look down at us from your great and holy home in heaven.\par Where is your strong love {\cf2\super [462]} for us?\par Where are your powerful works\par that come from deep inside you?\par Where is your mercy for me?\par Why are you hiding your kind love\par from me?\par 16 Look! You are our father!\par Abraham doesn’t know us.\par Israel (Jacob) does not recognize us.\par Lord, you are our father!\par You are the One who has always saved us!\par 17 Lord, why are you pushing us\par away from you?\par Why are you making it hard\par for us to follow you?\par Come back to us Lord!\par We are your servants.\par Come to us and help us!\par Our families belong to you.\par 18 Your holy people lived in their land\par only a short time.\par Then our enemies trampled (walk on)\par your holy temple. {\cf2\super [463]} \par 19 Some people don’t follow you.\par Those people don’t wear your name.\par |
