Therefore My wrathand My angerwere pouredout and burnedin the citiesof Judahand in the streetsof Jerusalem,so they havebecomea ruinand a desolationas it is thisday.
Your landis desolate,Your citiesare burnedwith fire,Your fields--strangersare devouringthem in your presence; It is desolation,as overthrownby strangers.
Rouseyourself!Rouseyourself!Arise,O Jerusalem,You whohave drunkfrom the LORD'Shandthe cupof His anger; The chaliceof reelingyou have drainedto the dregs.
Your sonshave fainted,They lie[helpless] at the headof everystreet,Like an antelopein a net,Fullof the wrathof the LORD,The rebukeof your God.
Then I said,"Lord,howlong?"And He answered,"Untilcitiesare devastated[and] withoutinhabitant,Housesare withoutpeopleAnd the landis utterlydesolate,
O houseof David, thussaysthe LORD:"Administerjusticeevery morning; And deliverthe [person] who has been robbedfrom the powerof [his] oppressor,That My wrathmay not goforthlike fireAnd burnwith noneto extinguish[it], Becauseof the evilof their deeds.
"I Myselfwill waragainstyou with an outstretchedhandand a mightyarm, even in angerand wrathand greatindignation.
Behold,I am going to command,'declaresthe LORD,'and I will bringthem backto thiscity;and they will fightagainstit and takeit and burnit with fire;and I will makethe citiesof Judaha desolationwithoutinhabitant.'"
"Perhapstheir supplicationwill comebeforethe LORD,and everyonewill turnfrom his evilway, for greatis the angerand the wraththat the LORDhas pronouncedagainstthispeople."
For thussaysthe LORD,"The wholelandshall be a desolation,Yet I will not executea completedestruction.
"Circumciseyourselves to the LORDAnd removethe foreskinsof your heart,Menof Judahand inhabitantsof Jerusalem,OrelseMy wrathwill goforthlike fireAnd burnwith noneto quenchit, Becauseof the evilof your deeds."
For thussaysthe LORDof hosts, the Godof Israel,"As My angerand wrathhave been pouredout on the inhabitantsof Jerusalem,soMy wrathwill be pouredout on you when you enterEgypt. And you will becomea curse,an objectof horror,an imprecationand a reproach;and you will seethisplacenomore."
"So the LORDwas nolongerableto endure[it], becauseof the evilof your deeds, becauseof the abominationswhichyou have committed;thus your landhas becomea ruin,an objectof horrorand a curse, withoutan inhabitant,as [it is] thisday.
"Do you not seewhatthey are doingin the citiesof Judahand in the streetsof Jerusalem?
Thereforethussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,My angerand My wrathwill be pouredout on thisplace,on manand on beastand on the treesof the fieldand on the fruitof the ground;and it will burnand not be quenched."
"Then I will make to ceasefrom the citiesof Judahand from the streetsof Jerusalemthe voiceof joyand the voiceof gladness, the voiceof the bridegroomand the voiceof the bride;for the landwill becomea ruin.
"And deathwill be chosenratherthanlifeby allthe remnantthat remainsof thisevilfamily, that remainsin allthe placesto whichI have driventhem," declaresthe LORDof hosts.
Howlonelysitsthe cityThat was fullof people! She has becomelike a widowWhowas [once] greatamong the nations! She who was a princessamong the provincesHas becomea forcedlaborer!
"From on highHe sentfireinto my bones,And it prevailed[over them]. He has spreada netfor my feet;He has turnedme back;He has mademe desolate,Faintalldaylong.
Becauseof MountZionwhichliesdesolate,Foxesprowlin it.
"As I live,"declaresthe LordGOD,"surelywith a mightyhandand with an outstretchedarmand with wrathpouredout, I shall be kingoveryou.
"I will bringyou out from the peoplesand gatheryou from the landswhereyou are scattered,with a mightyhandand with an outstretchedarmand with wrathpouredout;
"In your filthinessis lewdness.BecauseI [would] have cleansedyou, Yet you are not clean,You will not be cleansedfrom your filthinessagainUntilI have spentMy wrathon you.
"That it may cause wrathto comeup to takevengeance,I have puther bloodon the barerock,That it may not be covered."
Thus My angerwill be spentand I will satisfyMy wrathon them, and I will be appeased;then they will knowthat I, the LORD,have spokenin My zealwhen I have spentMy wrathupon them.
"He whois faroffwill dieby the plague, and he whois nearwill fallby the sword, and he who remainsand is besiegedwill dieby the famine. Thus will I spendMy wrathon them.
"Therefore, I indeedwill dealin wrath. My eyewill havenopitynorwill I spare;and though they cryin My earswith a loudvoice, yet I will not listento them."
"Thus He has confirmedHis wordswhichHe had spokenagainstus and againstour rulerswhoruledus, to bringon us greatcalamity;for underthe wholeheaventhere has not been done[anything] like whatwas doneto Jerusalem.
then I will actwith wrathfulhostilityagainstyou, and I, evenI, will punishyou seventimesfor your sins.
I will laywasteyour citiesas well and will makeyour sanctuariesdesolate, and I will not smellyour soothingaromas.
A jealousand avengingGodis the LORD;The LORDis avengingand wrathful. The LORDtakesvengeanceon His adversaries,And He reserveswrathfor His enemies.
"The LORDwas veryangrywith your fathers.
"But did not My wordsand My statutes, whichI commandedMy servantsthe prophets, overtakeyour fathers? Then they repentedand said,As the LORDof hostspurposedto doto us in accordance with our waysand our deeds,soHe has dealtwith us.'"'"
"but I scatteredthem with a stormwindamongallthe nationswhomthey have not known. Thus the landis desolatedbehindthem sothat noone wentbackand forth, for they madethe pleasantlanddesolate."
