Allyour lovershave forgottenyou, They do not seekyou; For I have woundedyou with the woundof an enemy,With the punishmentof a cruelone,Becauseyour iniquityis great[And] your sinsare numerous.
"His angerhas tornme and huntedme down,He has gnashedat me with His teeth;My adversaryglaresat me.
"He has also kindledHis angeragainstme And consideredme as His enemy.
"You have becomecruelto me; With the mightof Your handYou persecuteme.
Fools,becauseof their rebelliousway,And becauseof their iniquities,were afflicted.
"When you cryout, let your collection[of idols] deliveryou. But the windwill carryallof them up, [And] a breathwill take[them away]. But he who takesrefugein Me will inheritthe landAnd will possessMy holymountain."
"You will saythiswordto them, 'Let my eyesflowdownwith tearsnightand day,And let them not cease;For the virgindaughterof my peoplehas been crushedwith a mightyblow,With a sorelyinfectedwound.
"Whydo you goaround somuchChangingyour way?Also,you will be putto shameby EgyptAs you were putto shameby Assyria.
"Goup to Lebanonand cryout, And liftup your voicein Bashan;Cryout also from Abarim,For allyour lovershave been crushed.
"The windwill sweepawayallyour shepherds,And your loverswill gointo captivity;Thenyou will surelybe ashamedand humiliatedBecauseof allyour wickedness.
Whydo you cryout overyour injury?Your painis incurable.Becauseyour iniquityis great[And] your sinsare numerous,I have donethesethingsto you.
"The Chaldeanswho are fightingagainstthiscitywill enterand setthiscityon fireand burnit, with the houseswhere[people] have offeredincenseto Baalon their roofsand pouredout drinkofferingsto othergodsto provokeMe to anger.
"Indeedthe sonsof Israeland the sonsof Judahhave been doingonlyevilin My sightfrom their youth;for the sonsof Israelhave been onlyprovokingMe to angerby the workof their hands,"declaresthe LORD.
"But they puttheir detestablethingsin the housewhichis calledby My name,to defileit.
"They builtthe highplacesof Baalthat are in the valleyof Ben-hinnomto cause their sonsand their daughtersto passthrough[the fire] to Molech,whichI had not commandedthem norhad it enteredMy mindthat they should dothisabomination,to cause Judahto sin.
Then behold,allof the womenwhohave been leftin the palaceof the kingof Judahare going to be broughtout to the officersof the kingof Babylon;and thosewomenwill say,"Your closefriendsHave misledand overpoweredyou; While your feetwere sunkin the mire,They turnedback."
And you, O desolateone, whatwill you do?Althoughyou dressin scarlet,Althoughyou decorate[yourself with] ornamentsof gold,Althoughyou enlargeyour eyeswith paint,In vainyou makeyourself beautiful.[Your] loversdespiseyou; They seekyour life.
"So the LORDwas nolongerableto endure[it], becauseof the evilof your deeds,becauseof the abominationswhichyou have committed;thus your landhas becomea ruin,an objectof horrorand a curse,withoutan inhabitant,as [it is] thisday.
"I will goto the greatAnd will speakto them, For they knowthe wayof the LORD[And] the ordinanceof their God."But they too, with oneaccord,have brokenthe yoke[And] burstthe bonds.
Thereforea lionfrom the forestwill slaythem, A wolfof the desertswill destroythem, A leopardis watchingtheir cities.Everyonewho goesout of them will be tornin pieces,Becausetheir transgressionsare many,Their apostasiesare numerous.
"They seize[their] bowand javelin;They are crueland havenomercy.Their voiceroarslike the sea;And they rideon horses,Marshalledlike a manfor the battleAgainstyou, O daughterof Babylon.
"They seizebowand spear;They are crueland havenomercy;Their voiceroarslike the sea,And they rideon horses,Arrayedas a manfor the battleAgainstyou, O daughterof Zion!"
"I calledto my lovers,[but] they deceivedme; My priestsand my eldersperishedin the cityWhilethey soughtfoodto restoretheir strengththemselves.
She weepsbitterlyin the nightAnd her tearsare on her cheeks;She hasnoneto comforther Amongallher lovers.Allher friendshave dealttreacherouslywith her; They have becomeher enemies.
Howthe Lordhas coveredthe daughterof ZionWith a cloudin His anger!He has castfrom heavento earthThe gloryof Israel,And has not rememberedHis footstoolIn the dayof His anger.
"Therefore,O Oholibah,thussaysthe LordGOD,'BeholdI will arouseyour loversagainstyou, from whomyou were alienated,and I will bringthem againstyou from everyside:
"Therefore,I gaveher into the handof her lovers,into the handof the Assyrians,afterwhomshe lusted.
"Indeed allIsraelhas transgressedYour lawand turnedaside,not obeyingYour voice;so the cursehas been pouredout on us, along with the oathwhichis writtenin the lawof Mosesthe servantof God,for we have sinnedagainst Him.
"As it is writtenin the lawof Moses,allthiscalamityhas comeon us; yet we have not soughtthe favorof the LORDour Godby turningfrom our iniquityand givingattentionto Your truth.
we have sinned,committediniquity,actedwickedlyand rebelled,even turningasidefrom Your commandmentsand ordinances.
"For their motherhas playedthe harlot;She who conceivedthem has actedshamefully.For she said,I will goaftermy lovers,Who give[me] my breadand my water,My wooland my flax,my oiland my drink.'
For I [will be] like a lionto EphraimAnd like a younglionto the houseof Judah.I, even I, will tearto pieces and goaway, I will carryaway, and therewill be noneto deliver.
"Allthe menalliedwith you Will sendyou forth to the border,And the menat peacewith you Will deceiveyou and overpoweryou. [They who eat] your breadWill setan ambushfor you. (Thereis nounderstandingin him.)
