2 Kings 4 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

1 H6817Now there cried[H8804] H259a certainH802womanH802of the wivesH1121of the sonsH5030of the prophetsH477unto ElishaH559, saying[H8800] H5650, Thy servantH376my husbandH4191is dead[H8804] H3045; and thou knowest[H8804] H5650that thy servantH3373did fearH3068the LORDH5383: and the creditor[H8802] H935is come[H8804] H3947to take[H8800] H8147unto him my twoH3206sonsH5650to be bondmen.

2 H477And ElishaH559said[H8799] H6213unto her, What shall I do[H8799] H5046for thee? tell[H8685] H3426me, what hastH1004thou in the houseH559? And she said[H8799] H8198, Thine handmaidH1004hath not any thing in the houseH610, save a potH8081of oil.

3 H559Then he said[H8799] H3212, Go[H8798] H7592, borrow[H8798] H3627thee vesselsH2351abroadH7934of all thy neighboursH7386, even emptyH3627vesselsH4591; borrow not a few[H8686] .

4 H935And when thou art come in[H8804] H5462, thou shalt shut[H8804] H1817the doorH1121upon thee and upon thy sonsH3332, and shalt pour out[H8804] H3627into all those vesselsH5265, and thou shalt set aside[H8686] H4392that which is full.

5 H3212So she went[H8799] H5462from him, and shut[H8799] H1817the doorH1157upon her and uponH1121her sonsH1992, whoH5066brought[H8688] H3332the vessels to her; and she poured out[H8716] .

6 H3627And it came to pass, when the vesselsH4390were full[H8800] H559, that she said[H8799] H1121unto her sonH5066, Bring[H8685] H3627me yet a vesselH559. And he said[H8799] H3627unto her, There is not a vesselH8081more. And the oilH5975stayed[H8799] .

7 H935Then she came[H8799] H5046and told[H8686] H376the manH430of GodH559. And he said[H8799] H3212, Go[H8798] H4376, sell[H8798] H8081the oilH7999, and pay[H8761] H5386thy debtH2421, and live[H8799] H1121thou and thy childrenH3498of the rest[H8737] .

8 H3117And it fell on a dayH477, that ElishaH5674passed[H8799] H7766to ShunemH1419, where was a greatH802womanH2388; and she constrained[H8686] H398him to eat[H8800] H3899breadH1767. And so it was, that as oftH5674as he passed by[H8800] H5493, he turned[H8799] H398in thither to eat[H8800] H3899bread.

9 H559And she said[H8799] H376unto her husbandH3045, Behold now, I perceive[H8804] H6918that this is an holyH376manH430of GodH5674, which passeth[H8802] H8548by us continually.

10 H6213Let us make[H8799] H6996a littleH5944chamberH7023, I pray thee, on the wallH7760; and let us set[H8799] H4296for him there a bedH7979, and a tableH3678, and a stoolH4501, and a candlestickH935: and it shall be, when he cometh[H8800] H5493to us, that he shall turn[H8799]  in thither.

11 H3117And it fell on a dayH935, that he came[H8799] H5493thither, and he turned[H8799] H5944into the chamberH7901, and lay[H8799]  there.

12 H559And he said[H8799] H1522to GehaziH5288his servantH7121, Call[H8798] H7767this ShunammiteH7121. And when he had called[H8799] H5975her, she stood[H8799] H6440before him.

13 H559And he said[H8799] H559unto him, Say[H8798] H2729now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful[H8804] H2731for us with all this careH6213; what is to be done[H8800] H3426for thee? wouldestH1696thou be spoken[H8763] H4428for to the kingH8269, or to the captainH6635of the hostH559? And she answered[H8799] H3427, I dwell[H8802] H8432amongH5971mine own people.

14 H559And he said[H8799] H6213, What then is to be done[H8800] H1522for her? And GehaziH559answered[H8799] H61, VerilyH1121she hath no childH376, and her husbandH2204is old[H8804] .

15 H559And he said[H8799] H7121, Call[H8798] H7121her. And when he had called[H8799] H5975her, she stood[H8799] H6607in the door.

16 H559And he said[H8799] H4150, About this seasonH6256, according to the timeH2416of lifeH2263, thou shalt embrace[H8802] H1121a sonH559. And she said[H8799] H113, Nay, my lordH376, thou manH430of GodH3576, do not lie[H8762] H8198unto thine handmaid.

17 H802And the womanH2029conceived[H8799] H3205, and bare[H8799] H1121a sonH4150at that seasonH477that ElishaH1696had said[H8765] H6256unto her, according to the timeH2416of life.

18 H3206And when the childH1431was grown[H8799] H3117, it fell on a dayH3318, that he went out[H8799] H1to his fatherH7114to the reapers[H8802] .

19 H559And he said[H8799] H1unto his fatherH7218, My headH7218, my headH559. And he said[H8799] H5288to a ladH5375, Carry[H8798] H517him to his mother.

20 H5375And when he had taken[H8799] H935him, and brought[H8686] H517him to his motherH3427, he sat[H8799] H1290on her kneesH6672till noonH4191, and then died[H8799] .

21 H5927And she went up[H8799] H7901, and laid[H8686] H4296him on the bedH376of the manH430of GodH5462, and shut[H8799] H3318the door upon him, and went out[H8799] .

22 H7121And she called[H8799] H376unto her husbandH559, and said[H8799] H7971, Send[H8798] H259me, I pray thee, oneH5288of the young menH259, and oneH860of the assesH7323, that I may run[H8799] H376to the manH430of GodH7725, and come again[H8799] .

23 H559And he said[H8799] H1980, Wherefore wilt thou go[H8802] H3117to him to dayH2320? it is neither new moonH7676, nor sabbathH559. And she said[H8799] H7965, It shall be well.

24 H2280Then she saddled[H8799] H860an assH559, and said[H8799] H5288to her servantH5090, Drive[H8798] H3212, and go forward[H8798] H6113; slack[H8799] H7392not thy riding[H8800] H559for me, except I bid[H8804]  thee.

25 H3212So she went[H8799] H935and came[H8799] H376unto the manH430of GodH2022to mountH3760CarmelH376. And it came to pass, when the manH430of GodH7200saw her afar off[H8800] H559, that he said[H8799] H1522to GehaziH5288his servantH1975, Behold, yonder is thatH7767Shunammite:

26 H7323Run[H8798] H7125now, I pray thee, to meet[H8800] H559her, and say[H8798] H7965unto her, Is it wellH7965with thee? is it wellH376with thy husbandH7965? is it wellH3206with the childH559? And she answered[H8799] H7965, It is well.

27 H935And when she came[H8799] H376to the manH430of GodH2022to the hillH2388, she caught[H8686] H7272him by the feetH1522: but GehaziH5066came near[H8799] H1920to thrust her away[H8800] H376. And the manH430of GodH559said[H8799] H7503, Let her alone[H8685] H5315; for her soulH4843is vexed[H8804] H3068within her: and the LORDH5956hath hid[H8689] H5046it from me, and hath not told[H8689]  me.

28 H559Then she said[H8799] H7592, Did I desire[H8804] H1121a sonH113of my lordH559? did I not say[H8804] H7952, Do not deceive[H8686]  me?

29 H559Then he said[H8799] H1522to GehaziH2296, Gird up[H8798] H4975thy loinsH3947, and take[H8798] H4938my staffH3027in thine handH3212, and go thy way[H8798] H4672: if thou meet[H8799] H376any manH1288, salute[H8762] H376him not; and if anyH1288salute[H8762] H6030thee, answer him not again[H8799] H7760: and lay[H8804] H4938my staffH6440upon the faceH5288of the child.

30 H517And the motherH5288of the childH559said[H8799] H3068, As the LORDH2416livethH5315, and as thy soulH2416livethH5800, I will not leave[H8799] H6965thee. And he arose[H8799] H3212, and followed[H8799] H310  her.

31 H1522And GehaziH5674passed on[H8804] H6440beforeH7760them, and laid[H8799] H4938the staffH6440upon the faceH5288of the childH6963; but there was neither voiceH7182, nor hearingH7725. Wherefore he went again[H8799] H7125to meet[H8800] H5046him, and told[H8686] H559him, saying[H8800] H5288, The childH6974is not awaked[H8689] .

32 H477And when ElishaH935was come[H8799] H1004into the houseH5288, behold, the childH4191was dead[H8801] H7901, and laid[H8716] H4296upon his bed.

33 H935He went in[H8799] H5462therefore, and shut[H8799] H1817the doorH8147upon them twainH6419, and prayed[H8691] H3068unto the LORD.

34 H5927And he went up[H8799] H7901, and lay[H8799] H3206upon the childH7760, and put[H8799] H6310his mouthH6310upon his mouthH5869, and his eyesH5869upon his eyesH3709, and his handsH3709upon his handsH1457: and he stretched[H8799] H1320himself upon the child; and the fleshH3206of the childH2552waxed warm[H8799] .

35 H7725Then he returned[H8799] H3212, and walked[H8799] H1004in the houseH259toH2008 H259and froH2008 H5927; and went up[H8799] H1457, and stretched[H8799] H5288himself upon him: and the childH2237sneezed[H8779] H7651sevenH6471timesH5288, and the childH6491opened[H8799] H5869his eyes.

36 H7121And he called[H8799] H1522GehaziH559, and said[H8799] H7121, Call[H8798] H7767this ShunammiteH7121. So he called[H8799] H935her. And when she was come in[H8799] H559unto him, he said[H8799] H5375, Take up[H8798] H1121thy son.

37 H935Then she went in[H8799] H5307, and fell[H8799] H7272at his feetH7812, and bowed[H8691] H776herself to the groundH5375, and took up[H8799] H1121her sonH3318, and went out[H8799] .

38 H477And ElishaH7725came again[H8804] H1537to GilgalH7458: and there was a dearthH776in the landH1121; and the sonsH5030of the prophetsH3427were sitting[H8802] H6440beforeH559him: and he said[H8799] H5288unto his servantH8239, Set[H8798] H1419on the greatH5518potH1310, and seethe[H8761] H5138pottageH1121for the sonsH5030of the prophets.

39 H259And oneH3318went out[H8799] H7704into the fieldH3950to gather[H8763] H219herbsH4672, and found[H8799] H7704a wildH1612vineH3950, and gathered[H8762] H7704thereof wildH6498gourdsH899his lapH4393fullH935, and came[H8799] H6398and shred[H8762] H5518them into the potH5138of pottageH3045: for they knew[H8804]  them not.

40 H3332So they poured out[H8799] H582for the menH398to eat[H8800] H398. And it came to pass, as they were eating[H8800] H5138of the pottageH6817, that they cried out[H8804] H559, and said[H8799] H376, O thou manH430of GodH4194, there is deathH5518in the potH3201. And they could[H8804] H398not eat[H8800]  thereof .

41 H559But he said[H8799] H3947, Then bring[H8798] H7058mealH7993. And he cast[H8686] H5518it into the potH559; and he said[H8799] H3332, Pour out[H8798] H5971for the peopleH398, that they may eat[H8799] H1697. And there was no harmH7451 H5518in the pot.

42 H935And there came[H8802] H376a manH1190from BaalshalishaH935, and brought[H8686] H376the manH430of GodH3899breadH1061of the firstfruitsH6242, twentyH3899loavesH8184of barleyH3759, and full ears of cornH6861in the huskH559thereof. And he said[H8799] H5414, Give[H8798] H5971unto the peopleH398, that they may eat[H8799] .

43 H8334And his servitor[H8764] H559said[H8799] H5414, What, should I set[H8799] H6440this beforeH3967an hundredH376menH559? He said again[H8799] H5414, Give[H8798] H5971the peopleH398, that they may eat[H8799] H559: for thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH398, They shall eat[H8800] H3498, and shall leave[H8687]  thereof .

44 H5414So he set[H8799] H6440it beforeH398them, and they did eat[H8799] H3498, and left[H8686] H1697thereof, according to the wordH3068of the LORD.
