Men from Judah’s family will be kings. The sign that his family rules will not leave his family, before the real king comes. [257] Then many people will obey and serve him.


The Lord our God saved us!\par God brought us back from those nations\par so we could praise his holy name,\par so we could sing praises to him.\par


The Lord built Jerusalem.\par God brought back the Israelite people\par who were taken as prisoners.\par


I will tell the north: Give my people to me! I will tell the south: Don’t keep my people in prison! Bring my sons and daughters to me from the faraway places!


“Look! People are coming to me\par from faraway places.\par People are coming to me\par from the north and from the west.\par People are coming to me\par from Aswan in Egypt.”\par


The Lord my Master says,\par “Look, I will wave my hand to the nations.\par I will raise my flag for all people to see.\par Then they will bring your children to you.\par Those people will carry your children\par on their shoulders,\par and they will hold them in their arms.\par


“You are a very important servant to me.\par The people of Israel are prisoners,\par but they will be brought back to me.\par Jacob’s family groups will come back to me.\par But, you have another job;\par it is even more important than this!\par I will make you a light for all nations.\par You will be my way to save\par all the people on earth.”\par


God says,\par “I left you,\par but only for a short time.\par I will gather you to me again.\par And I will show you great kindness.\par


And I will bring your health back.\par And I will heal your wounds.”\par This message is from the Lord.\par “Why? Because other people\par said you were outcasts. {\cf2\super [241]} \par Those people said,\par ‘No one cares about Zion. {\cf2\super [242]} ’”\par


“Nations, listen to this message\par from the Lord!\par Tell this message in the faraway lands\par by the sea:\par ‘God scattered the people of Israel\par But God will bring them back together.\par And he will watch over his flock (people)\par like a shepherd.’\par


If a shepherd is with his sheep when they begin to wander away, then he will go searching for them. In the same way I will search for my sheep. I will save my sheep. I will bring them back from all the places where they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day.


The Lord says,\par “\{Jerusalem\} was hurt and crippled.\par \{Jerusalem\} was thrown away.\par \{Jerusalem\} was hurt and punished.\par But I will bring her back \{to me\}.\par


I have other sheep too. They are not in this flock here. I must lead them also. They will listen to my voice. In the future there will be one flock and one shepherd.


Yes, Jesus would die for the Jewish people. But Jesus would also die for God’s other children that were scattered \{in all the world\}. He would die to bring them all together and make them one people.


These Jews said to each other, “Where will this man go that we cannot find him? Will he go to the Greek cities where our people live? Will he teach the Greek people there?


God’s goal was to finish his plan when the right time came. God planned that all things in heaven and on earth be joined together with Christ as the head.
