Isaiah 54 - Easy To Read Version1 Woman, be happy!\par You have not had any children.\par But you should be very happy!\par 2 Make your tent bigger.\par Open your doors wide.\par Don’t stop adding to your home.\par Make your tent large and strong.\par 3 Why? Because you will grow very much.\par Your children will get people\par from many nations,\par Your children will again live in the cities\par that were destroyed.\par 4 Don’t be afraid!\par You will not be disappointed.\par People will not say bad things against you.\par You will not be embarrassed.\par When you were young, you felt shame.\par But you will forget that shame now.\par You will not remember the shame that\par you felt when you lost your husband.\par 5 Why? Because your husband {\cf2\super [429]} \par is the One (God) who made you.\par His name is the Lord All-Powerful.\par He is the Protector {\cf2\super [430]} of Israel.\par He is the Holy One of Israel.\par And he will be called\par the God of all the earth!\par 6 You were like a woman\par whose husband had left her.\par You were very sad in your spirit,\par but the Lord called you to be his.\par You were like a woman that married young, and her husband left her.\par But God called you to be his.\par 7 God says,\par “I left you,\par but only for a short time.\par I will gather you to me again.\par And I will show you great kindness.\par 8 I became very angry\par and hid from you for a short time.\par But I will comfort you with kindness forever.”\par The Lord your Savior said this.\par 9 God says,\par “Remember, in Noah’s time\par I punished the world with the flood.\par But I made a promise to Noah\par that I would never again\par destroy the world with a flood.\par \{In the same way,\} I promise you\par that I will never again get angry at you\par and say bad things to you.”\par 10 The Lord says,\par “The mountains may disappear,\par and the hills may become dust.\par But my kindness will never leave you.\par I will make peace with you,\par and it will never end.”\par The Lord shows mercy to you.\par And he is the One that said these things.\par 11 “You poor city!\par Enemies came against you like storms.\par And no one comforted you.\par But I will build you again.\par I will use a beautiful mortar\par to lay the stones of your walls.\par I will use sapphire stones\par when I lay the foundation.\par 12 The stones on top of the wall\par will be made from rubies.\par I will use shiny jewels for the gates.\par I will use precious stones\par to build the walls around you.\par 13 Your children will follow God,\par and he will teach them.\par Your children will have real peace.\par 14 You will be built on goodness.\par So you will be safe\par from cruelty and fear.\par You will have nothing to fear.\par Nothing will come to hurt you.\par 15 None of my armies will fight against you.\par And if any army tries to attack you,\par you will defeat that army.\par 16 “Look, I made the blacksmith. {\cf2\super [431]} He blows on fire to make it hotter. Then he takes the hot iron and makes the kind of tool he wants to make. In the same way, I made the ‘Destroyer’ that destroys things. 17 “People will make weapons to fight against you, but those weapons will not defeat you. Some people will say things against you. But every person that speaks against you will be shown to be wrong.” |
