So the wall of Jerusalem was finished on the 25th day of the month of Elul. {\cf2\super [20]} It had taken 52 days to finish building the wall.


Then all our enemies heard that we had completed the wall. And all the nations around us saw that it was finished. So they lost their courage. Why? Because they understood that this work had been done with the help of our God.


Now the city was large and there was plenty of room. But there were few people in it and the houses had not yet been built again.


God will answer the prayers\par of the people he left alive.\par God will listen to their prayers.\par


God, please be good to Zion. {\cf2\super [308]} \par Rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.\par


\{That army will send messengers\par to their country.\}\par What will those messengers tell their people?\par They will announce:\par \{Philistia was defeated,\}\par but the Lord made Zion {\cf2\super [156]} strong.\par And his poor people went there for safety.\par


Many of my people are now lost in Assyria. {\cf2\super [255]} Some of my people have run away to Egypt. But at that time, a great trumpet will be blown. And all those people will come back to Jerusalem. Those people will bow down before the Lord on that holy mountain.


The Lord my Master said these things.


You must pray to the Lord\par until he makes Jerusalem a city\par that people on earth will praise.\par


“Nations, listen to this message\par from the Lord!\par Tell this message in the faraway lands\par by the sea:\par ‘God scattered the people of Israel\par But God will bring them back together.\par And he will watch over his flock (people)\par like a shepherd.’\par


Israel, my bride, I will build you again.\par You will be a country again.\par You will pick up your tambourines again.\par You will dance with all the other people\par that are having fun.\par


‘I have forced the people of Israel and Judah to leave their land. I was very angry with those people. But I will bring them back to this place. I will gather those people from the land where I forced them to go. I will bring them back to this place. I will let them live in peace and safety.


After a long time you will be called for duty. In the later years you will come into the land that has been healed from war. The people in that land were gathered from many nations and brought back to the mountains of Israel. In the past, the mountains of Israel had been destroyed again and again. But these people will have come back from those other nations. They all will have lived in safety.


“Learn these things, Daniel. Understand these things! From the time that the message went out to go back and build Jerusalem again until the time for the chosen king {\cf2\super [109]} to come will be seven weeks. {\cf2\super [110]} Then Jerusalem will be built again. There will again be places for people to meet together in Jerusalem. And there will be a ditch around the city to protect it. Jerusalem will be built for 62 weeks. {\cf2\super [111]} But there will be many troubles during that time.


The Lord says,\par “\{Jerusalem\} was hurt and crippled.\par \{Jerusalem\} was thrown away.\par \{Jerusalem\} was hurt and punished.\par But I will bring her back \{to me\}.\par


The Lord All-Powerful says, “Look, I am rescuing my people from countries in the east and west.


So I tell you, you are Peter. {\cf2\super [230]} And I will build my church on this rock. The power of death {\cf2\super [231]} will not be able to defeat my church.


Then the Lord your God will be kind to you. The Lord will make you free again! He will bring you back from those nations where he sent you.
