"Behold,he goesup like clouds,And his chariotslike the whirlwind;His horsesare swifterthaneagles.Woeto us, for we are ruined!"
The oracleconcerning Egypt.Behold,the LORDis ridingon a swiftcloudand is about to cometo Egypt;The idolsof Egyptwill trembleat His presence,And the heartof the Egyptianswill meltwithinthem.
For behold,the LORDwill comein fireAnd His chariotslike the whirlwind,To renderHis angerwith fury,And His rebukewith flamesof fire.
"Their horsesare swifterthanleopardsAnd keenerthanwolvesin the evening.Their horsemencomegalloping,Their horsemencomefrom afar;They flylike an eagleswooping[down] to devour.
Our pursuerswere swifterThanthe eaglesof the sky;They chasedus on the mountains,They waitedin ambushfor us in the wilderness.
Its arrowsare sharpand allits bowsare bent;The hoofsof its horsesseemlike flintand its [chariot] wheelslike a whirlwind.
The LORDis slowto angerand greatin power,And the LORDwill by nomeansleave[the guilty] unpunished.In whirlwindand stormis His way,And cloudsare the dustbeneath His feet.
They are comingfrom a farcountry,From the farthesthorizons,The LORDand His instrumentsof indignation,To destroythe wholeland.
"The LORDwill bringa nationagainstyou from afar,from the endof the earth,as the eagleswoopsdown,a nationwhoselanguageyou shall not understand,
For I hearda cryas of a woman in labor,The anguishas of one givingbirthto her firstchild,The cryof the daughterof Ziongaspingfor breath,Stretchingout her hands,[saying], "Ah,woeis me, for I faintbefore murderers."
BEHOLD,HE IS COMINGWITH THE CLOUDS,and everyeyewill seeHim, eventhose whopiercedHim; and allthe tribesof the earthwill mournoverHim. Soit is to be. Amen.
"And thenthe signof the Sonof Manwill appearin the sky,and thenallthe tribesof the earthwill mourn,and they will seethe SONOF MANCOMINGON THE CLOUDSOF THE SKYwith powerand greatglory.
[Put] the trumpetto your lips!Like an eagle[the enemy comes] againstthe houseof the LORD,Becausethey have transgressedMy covenantAnd rebelledagainstMy law.
"The first[was] like a lionand had [the] wingsof an eagle.I keptlookinguntilits wingswere plucked,and it was liftedup from the groundand madeto standon two feetlike a man;a humanmindalso was givento it.
Woeis me, becauseof my injury!My woundis incurable.But I said,"Trulythisis a sickness,And I must bearit."
"Sauland Jonathan,belovedand pleasantin their life,And in their deaththey were not parted;They were swifterthaneagles,They were strongerthanlions.
For Jerusalemhas stumbledand Judahhas fallen,Becausetheir speechand their actionsare againstthe LORD,To rebelagainst His gloriouspresence.
a windtoostrongfor this--will comeat My command; nowI will alsopronouncejudgmentsagainst them.
"For a voiceof wailingis heardfrom Zion,Howare we ruined!We are putto greatshame,For we have leftthe land,Becausethey have castdownour dwellings.'"
Behold,He will mountup and swooplike an eagleand spreadout His wingsagainstBozrah;and the heartsof the mightymenof Edomin that daywill be like the heartof a womanin labor.
"Becauseof the multitudeof his horses,the dust[raised by] them will coveryou; your wallswill shakeat the noiseof cavalryand wagonsand chariotswhen he entersyour gatesas men entera citythat is breached.
"You will goup, you will comelike a storm;you will be like a cloudcoveringthe land,you and allyour troops,and manypeopleswith you."
"At the endtimethe kingof the Southwill collidewith him, and the kingof the Northwill stormagainsthim with chariots,with horsemenand with manyships;and he will entercountries,overflow[them] and passthrough.
"On that daythey will takeup againstyou a tauntAnd uttera bitterlamentation[and] say,'We are completelydestroyed!He exchangesthe portionof my people;HowHe removesit from me! To the apostateHe apportionsour fields.'
"They seizebowand spear;They are crueland havenomercy;Their voiceroarslike the sea,And they rideon horses,Arrayedas a manfor the battleAgainstyou, O daughterof Zion!"
"As I live,"declaresthe KingWhose nameis the LORDof hosts,"Surelyone shall come[who looms up] like Taboramong the mountains,Or like Carmelby the sea.
For thussaysthe LORD:"Behold,one will flyswiftlylike an eagleAnd spreadout his wingsagainstMoab.
Now I liftedup my eyesagainand looked,and behold,fourchariotswere comingforthfrom betweenthe twomountains;and the mountains[were] bronzemountains.
