Now when the turnof eachyoungladycameto goin to KingAhasuerus,afterthe endof her twelvemonthsunder the regulationsfor the women--for the daysof their beautificationwere completedas follows:sixmonthswith oilof myrrhand sixmonthswith spicesand the cosmeticsfor women--
"I have sewedsackclothovermy skinAnd thrustmy hornin the dust.
She makeslinengarmentsand sells[them], And suppliesbeltsto the tradesmen.
"I have sprinkledmy bedWith myrrh,aloesand cinnamon.
They have goneup to the templeand [to] Dibon,[even] to the highplacesto weep.MoabwailsoverNeboand Medeba;Everyone'sheadis bald[and] everybeardis cutoff.
In their streetsthey have girdedthemselves with sackcloth;On their housetopsand in their squaresEveryoneis wailing,dissolvedin tears.
Therefore in that daythe LordGODof hostscalled[you] to weeping,to wailing,To shavingthe headand to wearingsackcloth.

Whenthe Lordhas washedawaythe filthof the daughtersof Zionand purgedthe bloodshedof Jerusalemfrom her midst,by the spiritof judgmentand the spiritof burning,
"You have journeyedto the kingwith oilAnd increasedyour perfumes;You have sentyour envoysa great distanceAnd made [them] godownto Sheol.
"For this,puton sackcloth,Lamentand wail;For the fierceangerof the LORDHas not turnedbackfrom us."
"For everyheadis baldand everybeardcutshort;there are gasheson allthe handsand sackclothon the loins.
"Wail,O Heshbon,for Aihas been destroyed!Cryout, O daughtersof Rabbah,Girdyourselveswith sackclothand lament,And rushbackand forthinside the walls;For Malcamwill gointo exileTogetherwith his priestsand his princes.
O daughterof my people,puton sackclothAnd rollin ashes;Mournas for an onlyson,A lamentationmostbitter.For suddenlythe destroyerWill comeupon us.
The eldersof the daughterof ZionSiton the ground,they are silent.They have thrownduston their heads;They have girdedthemselves with sackcloth.The virginsof JerusalemHave bowedtheir headsto the ground.
"Also they will makethemselves baldfor you And girdthemselves with sackcloth;And they will weepfor you in bitternessof soulWith bittermourning.
They will girdthemselves with sackclothand shudderingwill overwhelmthem; and shame[will be] on allfacesand baldnesson alltheir heads.
Waillike a virgingirdedwith sackclothFor the bridegroomof her youth.
I, in turn,will dothisto you: I will appointoveryou a suddenterror,consumptionand feverthat will wasteawaythe eyesand cause the soulto pineaway;also, you will sowyour seeduselessly,for your enemieswill eatit up.
"Then I will turnyour festivalsinto mourningAnd allyour songsinto lamentation;And I will bringsackclothon everyone'sloinsAnd baldnesson everyhead.And I will makeit like [a time of] mourningfor an onlyson,And the endof it will be like a bitterday.
Makeyourself baldand cutoffyour hair,Becauseof the childrenof your delight;Extendyour baldnesslike the eagle,For they will gofrom you into exile.
"The LORDwill smiteyou with consumptionand with feverand with inflammationand with fieryheatand with the swordand with blightand with mildew,and they will pursueyou untilyou perish.
[They will be] wastedby famine,and consumedby plagueAnd bitterdestruction;And the teethof beastsI will sendupon them, With the venomof crawlingthingsof the dust.
Your adornmentmust not be [merely] external--braidingthe hair,and wearinggold jewelry,orputtingon dresses;
"And I will grant[authority] to my twowitnesses,and they will prophesyfor twelvehundredand sixtydays,clothedin sackcloth."
Menwere scorchedwith fierceheat;and they blasphemedthe nameof Godwho hasthe powerovertheseplagues,and they did not repentso as to giveHim glory.
"And the kingsof the earth,who committed [acts of] immoralityand lived sensuouslywith her, will weepand lamentoverher whenthey seethe smokeof her burning,
