As for the prophets:My heartis brokenwithinme, Allmy bonestremble;I have becomelike a drunkenman,Even like a manovercomewith wine,Becauseof the LORDAnd becauseof His holywords.
You have made Your peopleexperiencehardship;You have givenus wineto drinkthat makes us stagger.
Reproachhas brokenmy heartand I am so sick.And I lookedfor sympathy,but therewas none,And for comforters,but I foundnone.
Woeto the proudcrownof the drunkardsof Ephraim,And to the fadingflowerof its gloriousbeauty,Whichis at the headof the fertilevalleyOf those who are overcomewith wine!
Be delayedand wait,Blindyourselves and be blind;They becomedrunk,but not with wine,They stagger,but not with strongdrink.
Therefore,pleasehearthis,you afflicted,Who are drunk,but not with wine:
Then I said,"Woeis me, for I am ruined!BecauseI am a manof uncleanlips,And I liveamonga peopleof uncleanlips;For my eyeshave seenthe King,the LORDof hosts."
But if I say,"I will not rememberHim Or speakanymorein His name,"Then in my heartit becomeslike a burningfireShutup in my bones;And I am wearyof holding[it] in, And I cannotendure[it].
When they had heardallthe words,they turnedin fearoneto anotherand saidto Baruch,"We will surelyreportallthesewordsto the king."
The prophetsprophesyfalsely,And the priestsruleon their [own] authority;And My peopleloveit so!But whatwill you doat the endof it?
My sorrowis beyond healing,My heartis faint[within me]!
Ohthat my headwere watersAnd my eyesa fountainof tears,That I might weepdayand nightFor the slainof the daughterof my people!
He has filledme with bitterness,He has mademe drunkwith wormwood.
Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Woeto the foolishprophetswhoare followingtheir own spiritand have seennothing.
The LORDsaidto him, "Gothrough the midstof the city,[even] through the midstof Jerusalem,and puta markon the foreheadsof the menwho sighand groanoverallthe abominationswhich are being committedin its midst."
"Utterlyslayoldmen,youngmen,maidens,littlechildren,and women,but do not touchanymanon whomis the mark;and you shall startfrom My sanctuary."So they startedwith the elderswho[were] beforethe temple.
Then I, Daniel,was exhaustedand sickfor days.Then I gotup [again] and carriedon the king'sbusiness;but I was astoundedat the vision,and therewas noneto explain[it].
I heardand my inwardpartstrembled,At the soundmy lipsquivered.Decayentersmy bones,And in my placeI tremble.BecauseI must waitquietlyfor the dayof distress,For the peopleto arise[who] will invadeus.
I was oncealiveapartfrom the Law;but when the commandmentcame,sinbecame aliveand I died;
