For You savean afflictedpeople,But haughtyeyesYou abase.
The prideof manwill be humbledAnd the loftinessof menwill be abased;And the LORDalonewill be exaltedin that day,
"For behold,the dayis coming,burninglike a furnace;and allthe arrogantand everyevildoerwill be chaff;and the daythat is comingwill setthem ablaze,"saysthe LORDof hosts,"sothat it will leavethem neitherrootnorbranch."
So it will happenin that day,That the LORDwill punishthe hostof heavenon high,And the kingsof the earthon earth.
Thus I will punishthe worldfor its evilAnd the wickedfor their iniquity;I will also putan endto the arroganceof the proudAnd abasethe haughtinessof the ruthless.
And in that dayyou will say,"Givethanksto the LORD,callon His name.MakeknownHis deedsamong the peoples;Make [them] rememberthat His nameis exalted."
"In that day,"declaresthe LORD,"I will assemblethe lameAnd gatherthe outcasts,Even those whomI have afflicted.
"In that dayI will also makea covenantfor them With the beastsof the field,The birdsof the skyAnd the creepingthingsof the ground.And I will abolishthe bow,the swordand warfrom the land,And will make them liedownin safety.
"And the houseof Israelwill knowthat I am the LORDtheir Godfrom that dayonward.
You younger men,likewise,be subjectto [your] elders;and allof you, clotheyourselves with humilitytoward one another,for GODIS OPPOSEDTO THE PROUD,BUT GIVESGRACETO THE HUMBLE.
But HE WHO BOASTSIS TO BOASTIN THE LORD.
[We are] destroyingspeculationsand everylofty thingraisedup againstthe knowledgeof God,and [we are] takingeverythoughtcaptiveto the obedienceof Christ,
"I tellyou, this manwentto his housejustifiedrather thanthe other;for everyonewho exaltshimselfwill be humbled,but he who humbleshimselfwill be exalted."
And the LORDtheir Godwill savethem in that dayAs the flockof His people;For [they are as] the stonesof a crown,Sparklingin His land.
In that dayit will be saidto Jerusalem:"Do not be afraid,O Zion;Do not let your handsfalllimp.
"In that dayyou will feelnoshameBecauseof allyour deedsBy whichyou have rebelledagainst Me; For thenI will removefrom your midstYour proud,exultingones,And you will neveragainbe haughtyOn My holymountain.
"It will be in that day,"declaresthe LORD,"That I will cutoffyour horsesfrom amongyou And destroyyour chariots.
"Will I not on that day,"declaresthe LORD,"Destroywisemenfrom EdomAnd understandingfrom the mountainof Esau?
"In that dayI will raiseup the fallenboothof David,And wallup its breaches;I will also raiseup its ruinsAnd rebuildit as in the daysof old;
And in that dayThe mountainswill dripwith sweetwine,And the hillswill flowwith milk,And allthe brooksof Judahwill flowwith water;And a springwill goout from the houseof the LORDTo waterthe valleyof Shittim.
"It will comeabout in that daythat I will respond,"declaresthe LORD."I will respondto the heavens,and they will respondto the earth,
"It will comeabout in that day,"declaresthe LORD,"That you will callMe IshiAnd will nolongercallMe Baali.
"On that dayI will giveGoga burialgroundtherein Israel,the valleyof those who passby eastof the sea,and it will blockoffthose who would passby. So they will buryGogtherewith allhis horde,and they will call[it] the valleyof Hamon-gog.
"In My zealand in My blazingwrathI declare[that] on that daythere will surelybe a greatearthquakein the landof Israel.
"Thereforeprophesy,sonof man,and sayto Gog,'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"On that daywhen My peopleIsraelare livingsecurely,will you not know[it]?
but let him who boastsboastof this,that he understandsand knowsMe, that I am the LORDwho exerciseslovingkindness,justiceand righteousnesson earth;for I delightin thesethings,"declaresthe LORD.
"ThereforeMy peopleshall knowMy name;thereforein that dayI am the one who is speaking,'HereI am.'"
"Whomhave you reproachedand blasphemed?And againstwhomhave you raised[your] voiceAnd haughtilyliftedup your eyes?Againstthe HolyOneof Israel!
Then He will give[you] rainfor the seedwhichyou will sowin the ground,and bread[from] the yieldof the ground,and it will be richand plenteous;on that dayyour livestockwill grazein a roomypasture.
On that daythe deafwill hearwordsof a book,And out of [their] gloomand darknessthe eyesof the blindwill see.
In that daythe LORDof hostswill becomea beautifulcrownAnd a gloriousdiademto the remnantof His people;
In that daythissongwill be sungin the landof Judah:"We have a strongcity;He setsup wallsand rampartsfor security.
And it will be saidin that day,"Behold,thisis our Godfor whom we have waitedthat He might saveus. Thisis the LORDfor whom we have waited;Let us rejoiceand be gladin His salvation."
Then you will sayon that day,"I will givethanksto You, O LORD;For although You were angrywith me, Your angeris turnedaway,And You comfortme.
For sevenwomenwill takeholdof onemanin that day,saying,"We will eatour own breadand wearour own clothes,onlylet us be calledby your name;takeawayour reproach!"
whenHe comesto be glorifiedin His saintson that day,and to be marveledat amongallwho have believed--for our testimonyto you was believed.
"And You savean afflictedpeople;But Your eyesare on the haughty[whom] You abase.
They have boweddownand fallen,But we have risenand stoodupright.
"Cease[striving] and knowthat I am God;I will be exaltedamong the nations,I will be exaltedin the earth."
There is a kind--oh howloftyare his eyes!And his eyelidsare raised[in arrogance].
The LORDof hostshas plannedit, to defilethe prideof allbeauty,To despiseallthe honoredof the earth.
Thereforethe LORDlongsto be graciousto you, And thereforeHe waits on highto havecompassionon you. For the LORDis a Godof justice;How blessedare allthose who longfor Him.
Thereforethussaysthe LORD,"Behold,I am planningagainstthisfamilya calamityFrom whichyou cannotremoveyour necks;And you will not walkhaughtily,For it will be an eviltime.
For You lightmy lamp;The LORDmy Godilluminesmy darkness.
The LORDof hostsis with us; The Godof Jacobis our stronghold.Selah.
Riseup, O Judgeof the earth,Renderrecompenseto the proud.
Everyonewho is proudin heartis an abominationto the LORD;Assuredly,he will not be unpunished.
So it will be that whenthe Lordhas completedallHis workon MountZionand on Jerusalem,[He will say], "I will punishthe fruitof the arrogantheartof the kingof Assyriaand the pompof his haughtiness."
"Neverthelessyou will be thrustdownto Sheol,To the recessesof the pit.
He [it is] who reducesrulersto nothing,Who makesthe judgesof the earthmeaningless.
"Is My inheritancelike a speckledbirdof preyto Me? Are the birdsof preyagainsther on everyside?Go,gatherallthe beastsof the field,Bringthem to devour!
"But at the endof that period,I, Nebuchadnezzar,raisedmy eyestoward heavenand my reasonreturnedto me, and I blessedthe MostHighand praisedand honoredHim wholivesforever;For His dominionis an everlastingdominion,And His kingdom[endures] from generationto generation.
