Thereforehumbleyourselves underthe mightyhandof God,that He may exaltyou at the proper time,
"Do you seehowAhabhas humbledhimself beforeMe? Becausehe has humbledhimself beforeMe, I will not bringthe evilin his days,[but] I will bringthe evilupon his housein his son'sdays."
becauseyour heartwas tenderand you humbledyourselfbeforethe LORDwhen you heardwhatI spokeagainstthisplaceand againstits inhabitantsthat they should becomea desolationand a curse,and you have tornyour clothesand weptbeforeMe, I trulyhave heardyou," declaresthe LORD.
And when he humbledhimself, the angerof the LORDturnedawayfrom him, so as not to destroy[him] completely;and alsoconditionswere goodin Judah.
Neverthelesssomemenof Asher,Manassehand Zebulunhumbledthemselves and cameto Jerusalem.
However, Hezekiahhumbledthe prideof his heart,both he and the inhabitantsof Jerusalem,so that the wrathof the LORDdid not comeon them in the daysof Hezekiah.
When he was in distress,he entreatedthe LORDhis Godand humbledhimself greatlybeforethe Godof his fathers.
His prayeralso and [how God] was entreatedby him, and allhis sin,his unfaithfulness,and the siteson whichhe builthighplacesand erectedthe Asherimand the carvedimages,beforehe humbledhimself, behold,they are writtenin the recordsof the Hozai.
Moreover, he did not humblehimself beforethe LORDas his fatherManassehhad done,but Amonmultipliedguilt.
He didevilin the sightof the LORDhis God;he did not humblehimself beforeJeremiahthe prophetwho spokefor the LORD.
"Behold,Godis exaltedin His power;Whois a teacherlikeHim?
And allthe hornsof the wickedHe will cutoff,[But] the hornsof the righteouswill be liftedup.
You have a strongarm;Your handis mighty,Your righthandis exalted.
Mosesand Aaronwentto Pharaohand saidto him, "Thussaysthe LORD,the Godof the Hebrews,'Howlongwill you refuseto humbleyourself beforeMe? LetMy peoplego,that they may serveMe.
"But I knowthat the kingof Egyptwill not permityou to go,exceptunder compulsion.
Then Mosesentreatedthe LORDhis God,and said,"O LORD,whydoes Your angerburnagainst Your peoplewhomYou have broughtout from the landof Egyptwith greatpowerand with a mightyhand?
A man'spridewill bringhim low,But a humblespiritwill obtainhonor.
The proudlookof manwill be abasedAnd the loftinessof manwill be humbled,And the LORDalonewill be exaltedin that day.
"Let everyvalleybe liftedup, And everymountainand hillbe madelow;And let the roughgroundbecomea plain,And the ruggedterraina broadvalley;
For thussaysthe highand exaltedOne Who livesforever,whose nameis Holy,"I dwell[on] a highand holyplace, And [also] with the contriteand lowlyof spiritIn order to revivethe spiritof the lowlyAnd to revivethe heartof the contrite.
Sayto the kingand the queenmother,"Takea lowlyseat,For your beautifulcrownHas comedownfrom your head."
"But they have not becomecontriteeven to thisday,norhave they fearednorwalkedin My lawor My statutes,whichI have setbeforeyou and beforeyour fathers."'
"Allthe choicemenin allhis troopswill fallby the sword,and the survivorswill be scatteredto everywind;and you will knowthat I, the LORD,have spoken."
"As for you, sonof man,groanwith breakingheartand bittergrief,groanin their sight.
"Yet you, his son,Belshazzar,have not humbledyour heart,eventhoughyou knewallthis,
I alsowas actingwith hostilityagainstthem, to bringthem into the landof their enemies--oriftheir uncircumcisedheartbecomeshumbledso that they thenmakeamendsfor their iniquity,
He has toldyou, O man,whatis good;And whatdoes the LORDrequireof you But to dojustice,to lovekindness,And to walkhumblywith your God?
"Whoeverexaltshimselfshall be humbled;and whoeverhumbleshimselfshall be exalted.
"He has brought downrulersfrom [their] thrones,And has exaltedthose who were humble.
"For everyonewho exaltshimselfwill be humbled,and he who humbleshimselfwill be exalted."
"I tellyou, this manwentto his housejustifiedrather thanthe other;for everyonewho exaltshimselfwill be humbled,but he who humbleshimselfwill be exalted."
For while we were stillhelpless,at the right timeChristdiedfor the ungodly.
Ordo we provokethe Lordto jealousy?We are not strongerthan He, are we?
Vengeanceis Mine, and retribution,In due timetheir footwill slip;For the dayof their calamityis near,And the impendingthingsare hasteningupon them.'
who gaveHimselfas a ransomfor all,the testimony[given] at the propertime.
but at the propertimemanifested,[even] His word,in the proclamationwith whichI was entrustedaccordingto the commandmentof Godour Savior,
Humbleyourselves in the presenceof the Lord,and He will exaltyou.
Submitthereforeto God.Resistthe deviland he will fleefrom you.
As an example,brethren,of sufferingand patience,takethe prophetswhospokein the nameof the Lord.
