But when I looked for good things.\par bad things came instead.\par When I looked for light, darkness came.\par
God heard this and became very angry.\par And He rejected Israel completely!\par
But God, you became angry\par at your chosen king, {\cf2\super [512]} \par and you left him all alone.\par
If a person is stubborn and becomes more angry every time people tell him that he is doing wrong, then that person will be destroyed. There is no hope.

We have worn out our eyes\par looking for help.\par But no help comes.\par We kept on looking for a nation to save us.\par We kept watch from our watchtower,\par But no nation came to us.\par
People living in Maroth {\cf2\super [20]} become weak\par waiting for good \{news to come\}.\par Why? Because trouble has come down\par from the Lord to the city gate of Jerusalem.\par
People will say, “We have peace and we are safe.” At that time destruction will come to them quickly. Destruction will come like the pains of a woman who is having a baby. And those people will not escape.
