“Lord, have you completely rejected\par the nation of Judah?\par Lord, do you hate Zion {\cf2\super [124]} ?\par You hurt us so badly\par that we can’t be made well again.\par Why did you do that?\par We were hoping for peace,\par but nothing good has come.\par We were hoping for a time of healing,\par but only terror came.\par
I will do these things because the people of Judah quit following me. They have made this a place for foreign gods. The people of Judah have burned sacrifices in this place to other gods. The people did not worship those gods long ago. Their ancestors {\cf2\super [157]} did not worship those gods. These are new gods from other countries. The kings of Judah filled this place with the blood of the innocent children.
So, this is what the Lord All-Powerful says\par about the prophets:\par “I will punish those prophets.\par The punishment will be\par like eating poisoned food and water.\par The prophets started a spiritual sickness.\par And that sickness spread through\par the whole country.\par So I will punish those prophets.\par That sickness came from the prophets\par in Jerusalem.”\par
The Lord says:\par “I’ll never reject the descendants of Israel.\par That would happen only if people could\par measure the sky above,\par and learn all the secrets\par of the earth below.\par Only then would I reject\par the descendants of Israel.\par Only then would I reject them\par for the bad things they have done.”\par This message is from the Lord.\par
The Lord says these things.\par “Jacob, my servant, don’t be afraid.\par I am with you.\par I sent you away to many different places.\par But I will not destroy you completely.\par But I will destroy all those nations.\par You must be punished\par for the bad things you did.\par So I won’t let you escape your punishment.\par I will discipline you, but I will be fair.”\par
The Lord says,\par “At that time, people will try hard\par to find Israel’s guilt.\par But there will be no guilt.\par People will try to find Judah’s sins,\par but no sins will be found.\par Why? Because I am saving a few\par survivors {\cf2\super [410]} from Israel and Judah.\par And I am forgiving them\par for all of their sins.”\par
