For I will gatherallthe nationsagainstJerusalemto battle,and the citywill be captured,the housesplundered,the womenravishedand halfof the cityexiled,but the restof the peoplewill not be cutofffrom the city.
Their littleonesalso will be dashedto piecesBefore their eyes;Their houseswill be plunderedAnd their wivesravished.
It will comeabout that he who is leftin Zionand remainsin Jerusalemwill be calledholy--everyonewho is recordedfor lifein Jerusalem.
He will also liftup a standardto the distantnation,And will whistlefor it from the endsof the earth;And behold,it will comewith speedswiftly.
"But be gladand rejoiceforeverin whatI create;For behold,I createJerusalem[for] rejoicingAnd her people[for] gladness.
Thussaysthe LORDGodof Israel,"Behold,I am about to turnbackthe weaponsof warwhichare in your hands,with whichyou are warringagainstthe kingof Babylonand the Chaldeanswho are besiegingyou outsidethe wall;and I will gatherthem into the centerof thiscity.
The wordwhichcameto Jeremiahfrom the LORD,when Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonand allhis army,with allthe kingdomsof the earththat were under his dominionand allthe peoples,were fightingagainstJerusalemand againstallits cities,saying,
The adversaryhas stretchedout his handOverallher preciousthings,For she has seenthe nationsenterher sanctuary,The ones whomYou commandedThat they should not enterinto Your congregation.
therefore,thussaysthe LordGOD,'Behold,I, evenI, am againstyou, and I will executejudgmentsamongyou in the sightof the nations.
I will gatherallthe nationsAnd bringthem downto the valleyof Jehoshaphat.Then I will enterinto judgmentwith them thereOn behalfof My peopleand My inheritance,Israel,Whomthey have scatteredamong the nations;And they have dividedup My land.
Proclaimthisamong the nations:Preparea war;rousethe mightymen!Let allthe soldiersdrawnear,let them comeup!
"Therefore,thussaysthe LORD,Your wifewill becomea harlotin the city,your sonsand your daughterswill fallby the sword,your landwill be parceledup by a [measuring] lineand you yourselfwill dieupon uncleansoil.Moreover, Israelwill certainlygofrom its landinto exile.'"
"Behold,I am going to makeJerusalema cupthat causes reelingto allthe peoplesaround;and when the siegeis againstJerusalem,it will alsobe againstJudah.
"It will comeabout in that daythat I will makeJerusalema heavystonefor allthe peoples;allwho liftit will be severelyinjured.And allthe nationsof the earthwill be gatheredagainstit.
"And in that dayI will setaboutto destroyallthe nationsthat comeagainstJerusalem.
"But the kingwas enraged,and he senthis armiesand destroyedthosemurderersand settheir cityon fire.
"But whenyou seethe ABOMINATIONOF DESOLATIONstandingwhereit shouldnot be (let the readerunderstand),thenthosewhoare in Judeamust fleeto the mountains.
"For thosedayswill be a [time of] tribulationsuchas has not occurredsincethe beginningof the creationwhichGodcreateduntilnow,and neverwill.
Nowin thosedaysa decreewentout from CaesarAugustus,that a census be takenof allthe inhabited earth.
