Her gateshave sunkinto the ground,He has destroyedand brokenher bars.Her kingand her princesare among the nations;The lawis nomore.Also,her prophetsfindNovisionfrom the LORD.
They slaughteredthe sonsof Zedekiahbefore his eyes,then putout the eyesof Zedekiahand boundhim with bronzefettersand broughthim to Babylon.
"For manydaysIsraelwas withoutthe true Godand withouta teachingpriestand withoutlaw.
They saidto me, "The remnanttherein the provincewhosurvivedthe captivityare in greatdistressand reproach,and the wallof Jerusalemis brokendownand its gatesare burnedwith fire."
We do not seeour signs;Thereis nolongerany prophet,Noris there any amongus who knowshowlong.
Desolationis leftin the cityAnd the gateis batteredto ruins.
Then the LORDsaidto me, "The prophetsare prophesyingfalsehoodin My name.I have neithersentthem norcommandedthem norspokento them; they are prophesyingto you a false vision,divination,futilityand the deceptionof their own minds.
Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,"Do not listento the wordsof the prophetswho are prophesyingto you. They are leadingyou into futility;They speaka visionof their own imagination,Not from the mouthof the LORD.
in the eleventhyearof Zedekiah,in the fourthmonth,in the ninth[day] of the month,the city[wall] was breached.
The Chaldeansalso burnedwith firethe king'spalaceand the housesof the people,and they brokedownthe wallsof Jerusalem.
The mightymenof Babylonhave ceasedfighting,They stayin the strongholds;Their strengthis exhausted,They are becoming[like] women;Their dwellingplacesare seton fire,The barsof her [gates] are broken.
So allthe armyof the Chaldeanswho[were] with the captainof the guardbrokedownallthe wallsaroundJerusalem.
Judahhas goneinto exileunderafflictionAnd underharshservitude;She dwellsamong the nations,[But] she has foundnorest;Allher pursuershave overtakenher In the midstof distress.
"Depart!Unclean!"they criedof themselves. "Depart,depart,do not touch!"Sothey fledand wandered;[Men] among the nationssaid,"They shall not continueto dwell[with us]."
The breathof our nostrils,the LORD'Sanointed,Was capturedin their pits,Of whomwe had said,"Under his shadowWe shall liveamong the nations."
"I will also spreadMy netoverhim, and he will be caughtin My snare.And I will bringhim to Babylonin the landof the Chaldeans;yet he will not seeit, though he will diethere.
"I will spreadMy netoverhim, and he will be caughtin My snare.Then I will bringhim to Babylonand enterinto judgmentwith him there[regarding] the unfaithfulactwhichhe has committedagainst Me.
Disasterwill comeupon disasterand rumorwill be [added] to rumor;then they will seeka visionfrom a prophet,but the lawwill be lostfrom the priestand counselfrom the elders.
The swordwill whirlagainst their cities,And will demolishtheir gate barsAnd consume[them] becauseof their counsels.
For the sonsof Israelwill remainfor manydayswithoutkingor prince,withoutsacrificeor [sacred] pillarand withoutephodor householdidols.
"I will also breakthe [gate] barof Damascus,And cutoffthe inhabitantfrom the valleyof Aven,And him who holdsthe scepter,from Beth-eden;So the peopleof Aramwill goexiledto Kir,"Saysthe LORD.
"The LORDwill bringyou and your king,whomyou setoveryou, to a nationwhichneitheryou noryour fathershave known,and thereyou shall serveothergods,woodand stone.
"It shall comeabout that as the LORDdelightedoveryou to prosperyou, and multiplyyou, sothe LORDwill delightoveryou to make you perishand destroyyou; and you will be tornfrom the landwhereyou are enteringto possessit.
When Saulinquiredof the LORD,the LORDdid not answerhim, eitherby dreamsorby Urimorby prophets.
