Blowa trumpetin Zion,And soundan alarmon My holymountain!Let allthe inhabitantsof the landtremble,For the dayof the LORDis coming;Surelyit is near,
Thus allIsraelbroughtup the arkof the covenantof the LORDwith shouting,and with soundof the horn,with trumpets,with loud-soundingcymbals,with harpsand lyres.
My fleshtremblesfor fearof You, And I am afraidof Your judgments.Ayin.
His foundationis in the holymountains.
The locustscameup overallthe landof Egyptand settledin allthe territoryof Egypt;[they were] verynumerous.There had neverbeenso[many] locusts,norwould there be so[many] again.
Wail,for the dayof the LORDis near!It will comeas destructionfrom the Almighty.
Behold,the dayof the LORDis coming,Cruel,with furyand burninganger,To makethe landa desolation;And He will exterminateits sinnersfrom it.
For the LORDof hostswill have a day[of reckoning] Againsteveryonewhois proudand loftyAnd againsteveryonewho is liftedup, That he may be abased.
"For My handmadeallthesethings,Thus allthesethingscameinto being,"declaresthe LORD."But to thisoneI will look,To him whois humbleand contriteof spirit,and whotremblesat My word.
Hearthe wordof the LORD,you whotrembleat His word:"Your brotherswho hateyou, who excludeyou for My name'ssake,Have said,'Let the LORDbe glorified,that we may seeyour joy.'But they will be putto shame.
"Now whenyou tellthispeopleallthesewords,they will sayto you, 'For whatreasonhas the LORDdeclaredallthisgreatcalamityagainstus? And whatis our iniquity,or whatis our sinwhichwe have committedagainst the LORDour God?'
"Men will not break[bread] in mourningfor them, to comfortanyone for the dead,norgivethem a cupof consolationto drinkfor anyone's fatheror mother.
Declarein Judahand proclaimin Jerusalem,and say,"Blowthe trumpetin the land;Cryaloudand say,Assembleyourselves, and let us goInto the fortifiedcities.'
Do you not fearMe?' declaresthe LORD.'Do you not tremblein My presence?For I have placedthe sandas a boundaryfor the sea,An eternaldecree,so it cannotcrossoverit. Though the wavestoss,yet they cannotprevail;Though they roar,yet they cannotcrossoverit.
"Thereforesayto them, 'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"I will make thisproverbceaseso that they will nolongeruseit as a proverbin Israel."But tellthem, "The daysdrawnearas well as the fulfillmentof everyvision.
"Cryout and wail,sonof man;for it is against My people,it is against allthe officialsof Israel.They are deliveredover to the swordwith My people,thereforestrike[your] thigh.
"For the dayis near,Even the dayof the LORDis near;It will be a dayof clouds,A time[of doom] for the nations.
and he seesthe swordcomingupon the landand blowson the trumpetand warnsthe people,
But ifthe watchmanseesthe swordcomingand does not blowthe trumpetand the peopleare not warned,and a swordcomesand takesa personfrom them, he is takenaway in his iniquity;but his bloodI will requirefrom the watchman'shand.'
Behold,the day!Behold,it is coming![Your] doomhas goneforth;the rodhas budded,arrogancehas blossomed.
The timehas come,the dayhas arrived.Let not the buyerrejoicenorthe sellermourn;for wrathis againstalltheir multitude.
"I makea decreethat in allthe dominionof my kingdommen are to fearand tremblebeforethe Godof Daniel;For He is the livingGodand enduringforever,And His kingdomis one whichwill not be destroyed,And His dominion[will be] forever.
"O Lord,in accordance with allYour righteousacts,let nowYour angerand Your wrathturnawayfrom Your cityJerusalem,Your holymountain;for becauseof our sinsand the iniquitiesof our fathers,Jerusalemand Your people[have become] a reproachto allthose aroundus.
Now whileI was speakingand praying,and confessingmy sinand the sinof my peopleIsrael,and presentingmy supplicationbeforethe LORDmy Godin behalfof the holymountainof my God,
Blowthe hornin Gibeah,The trumpetin Ramah.Soundan alarmat Beth-aven:"Behindyou, Benjamin!"
[Put] the trumpetto your lips!Like an eagle[the enemy comes] againstthe houseof the LORD,Becausethey have transgressedMy covenantAnd rebelledagainstMy law.
Alasfor the day!For the dayof the LORDis near,And it will comeas destructionfrom the Almighty.
The LORDuttersHis voicebeforeHis army;SurelyHis campis verygreat,For strongis he who carriesout His word.The dayof the LORDis indeedgreatand veryawesome,And who can endureit?
Blowa trumpetin Zion,Consecratea fast,proclaima solemnassembly,
"The sunwill be turnedinto darknessAnd the mooninto bloodBeforethe greatand awesomedayof the LORDcomes.
Multitudes,multitudesin the valleyof decision!For the dayof the LORDis nearin the valleyof decision.
Then you will knowthat I am the LORDyour God,Dwellingin Zion,My holymountain.So Jerusalemwill be holy,And strangerswill passthrough it nomore.
Ifa trumpetis blownin a citywill not the peopletremble?Ifa calamityoccursin a cityhas not the LORDdoneit?
Alas,you who are longingfor the dayof the LORD,For whatpurpose[will] the dayof the LORD[be] to you? It [will be] darknessand not light;
He said,"Whatdo you see,Amos?"And I said,"A basketof summerfruit."Then the LORDsaidto me, "The endhas comefor My peopleIsrael.I will sparethem nolonger.
"For the dayof the LORDdrawsnearon allthe nations.As you have done,it will be doneto you. Your dealingswill returnon your own head.
Nearis the greatdayof the LORD,Nearand comingveryquickly;Listen,the dayof the LORD!In it the warriorcriesout bitterly.
A dayof trumpetand battlecryAgainstthe fortifiedcitiesAnd the highcornertowers.
Be silentbeforethe LordGOD!For the dayof the LORDis near,For the LORDhas prepareda sacrifice,He has consecratedHis guests.
"In that dayyou will feelnoshameBecauseof allyour deedsBy whichyou have rebelledagainst Me; For thenI will removefrom your midstYour proud,exultingones,And you will neveragainbe haughtyOn My holymountain.
Behold,a dayis comingfor the LORDwhen the spoiltaken from you will be dividedamongyou.
"Thussaysthe LORD,'I will returnto Zionand will dwellin the midstof Jerusalem.Then Jerusalemwill be calledthe Cityof Truth,and the mountainof the LORDof hosts[will be called] the HolyMountain.'
"For behold,the dayis coming,burninglike a furnace;and allthe arrogantand everyevildoerwill be chaff;and the daythat is comingwill setthem ablaze,"saysthe LORDof hosts,"sothat it will leavethem neitherrootnorbranch."
"Makeyourself twotrumpetsof silver,of hammeredworkyou shall makethem; and you shall usethem for summoningthe congregationand for having the campssetout.
"When bothare blown,allthe congregationshall gatherthemselves to you at the doorwayof the tentof meeting.
For ifthe bugleproducesan indistinctsound,whowill preparehimself for battle?
So then,my beloved,justas you have alwaysobeyed,not as in my presenceonly,but nowmuchmorein my absence,workout your salvationwith fearand trembling;
For you yourselvesknowfull wellthat the dayof the Lordwill comejust likea thiefin the night.
You toobe patient;strengthenyour hearts,for the comingof the Lordis near.
The endof all thingsis near;therefore,be of sound judgmentand sober[spirit] for the purpose of prayer.
for the greatdayof their wrathhas come,and whois ableto stand?"
