And the LORDwill cause His voiceof authorityto be heard,And the descendingof His armto be seenin fierceanger,And [in] the flameof a consumingfireIn cloudburst,downpourand hailstones.
"Have you enteredthe storehousesof the snow,Or have you seenthe storehousesof the hail,
WhichI have reservedfor the timeof distress,For the dayof warand battle?
"Ordo you have an armlike God,And can you thunderwith a voicelikeHis?
ThenHe will speakto them in His angerAnd terrifythem in His fury,saying,
The nationsmadean uproar,the kingdomstottered;He raisedHis voice,the earthmelted.
O singto the LORDa newsong,For He has donewonderfulthings,His righthandand His holyarmhave gainedthe victoryfor Him.
"Terrorand dreadfallupon them; By the greatnessof Your armthey are motionlessas stone;UntilYour peoplepassover,O LORD,Untilthe peoplepassoverwhomYou have purchased.
Mosesstretchedout his stafftowardthe sky,and the LORDsentthunderand hail,and firerandown to the earth.And the LORDrainedhailon the landof Egypt.
So there was hail,and fireflashingcontinually in the midstof the hail,verysevere,suchas had not beenin allthe landof Egyptsinceit becamea nation.
Thereforethe Lord,the GODof hosts,will senda wastingdiseaseamong his stoutwarriors;And underhis glorya firewill be kindledlike a burningflame.
The LORDof hostswill arousea scourgeagainsthim like the slaughterof Midianat the rockof Oreb;and His staffwill be overthe seaand He will liftit up the way[He did] in Egypt.
Woeto Assyria,the rodof My angerAnd the staffin whose handsis My indignation,
Behold,the Lordhas a strongand mighty[agent]; As a stormof hail,a tempestof destruction,Like a stormof mightyoverflowingwaters,He has cast[it] downto the earthwith [His] hand.
From the LORDof hostsyou will be punishedwith thunderand earthquakeand loudnoise,[With] whirlwindand tempestand the flameof a consumingfire.
You will havesongsas in the nightwhen you keepthe festival,And gladnessof heartas when one marchesto [the sound of] the flute,To goto the mountainof the LORD,to the Rockof Israel.
For at the voiceof the LORDAssyriawill be terrified,[When] He strikeswith the rod.
For thussaysthe LORDto me, "As the lionor the youngliongrowlsoverhis prey,Againstwhicha bandof shepherdsis calledout, [And] he will not be terrifiedat their voicenordisturbedat their noise,Sowill the LORDof hostscomedownto wagewaron MountZionand on its hill."
And it will hailwhen the forestcomesdown,And the citywill be utterlylaidlow.
Sinnersin Zionare terrified;Tremblinghas seizedthe godless."Whoamong us can livewith the consumingfire?Whoamong us can livewith continualburning?"
There will be a shelterto [give] shadefrom the heatby day,and refugeand protectionfrom the stormand the rain.
Awake,awake,puton strength,O armof the LORD;Awakeas in the daysof old,the generationsof longago.Was it not You who cutRahabin pieces,Who piercedthe dragon?
The LORDhas baredHis holyarmIn the sightof allthe nations,That allthe endsof the earthmay seeThe salvationof our God.
The LORDhas swornby His righthandand by His strongarm,"I will neveragaingiveyour grain[as] foodfor your enemies;Norwill foreignersdrinkyour newwinefor whichyou have labored."
For behold,the LORDwill comein fireAnd His chariotslike the whirlwind,To renderHis angerwith fury,And His rebukewith flamesof fire.
For the LORDwill executejudgmentby fireAnd by His swordon allflesh,And those slainby the LORDwill be many.
Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,"Behold,evilis goingforthFrom nationto nation,And a greatstormis being stirredup From the remotestpartsof the earth.
Moreover, the soundof the wingsof the cherubimwas heardas faras the outercourt,like the voiceof GodAlmightywhen He speaks.
Therefore,thussaysthe LordGOD,"I will make a violentwindbreakout in My wrath.There will also be in My angera floodingrainand hailstonesto consume[it] in wrath.
With a noiseas of chariotsThey leapon the topsof the mountains,Like the cracklingof a flameof fireconsumingthe stubble,Like a mightypeoplearrangedfor battle.
"So I will kindlea fireon the wallof RabbahAnd it will consumeher citadelsAmid warcrieson the dayof battle,And a stormon the dayof tempest.
The mountainswill meltunderHim And the valleyswill be split,Like waxbeforethe fire,Like waterpoureddowna steepplace.
"For nationwill riseagainstnation,and kingdomagainstkingdom,and in variousplacesthere will be faminesand earthquakes.
"He has donemighty deedswith His arm;He has scattered[those who were] proudin the thoughtsof their heart.
dealingout retributionto thosewho do not knowGodand to thosewho do not obeythe gospelof our LordJesus.
And the LORDconfoundedthem beforeIsrael,and He slewthem with a greatslaughterat Gibeon,and pursuedthem by the wayof the ascentof Beth-horonand struckthem as faras Azekahand Makkedah.
As they fledfrom beforeIsrael,[while] they were at the descentof Beth-horon,the LORDthrewlargestonesfrom heavenon them as faras Azekah,and they died;[there were] morewhodiedfrom the hailstonesthanthose whomthe sonsof Israelkilledwith the sword.
His feet[were] likeburnished bronze,whenit has been made to glowin a furnace,and His voice[was] likethe soundof manywaters.
And the templeof Godwhich is in heavenwas opened;and the arkof His covenantappearedin His temple,and there were flashes of lightningand soundsand peals of thunderand an earthquakeand a greathailstorm.
Now Samuelwas offeringup the burntoffering,and the Philistinesdrewnearto battleagainst Israel.But the LORDthunderedwith a greatthunderon that dayagainstthe Philistinesand confusedthem, so that they were routedbeforeIsrael.
