Jehoshaphatmadeshipsof Tarshishto goto Ophirfor gold,but they did not gofor the shipswere brokenat Ezion-geber.
Now Hiramkingof Tyresenthis servantsto Solomon,whenhe heardthat they had anointedhim kingin placeof his father,for Hiramhadalwaysbeena friendof David.
For the kinghad shipswhich wentto Tarshishwith the servantsof Huram;onceevery threeyearsthe shipsof Tarshishcamebringinggoldand silver,ivoryand apesand peacocks.
With the eastwindYou breakthe shipsof Tarshish.
For the cryof distresshas gonearoundthe territoryof Moab,Its wail[goes] as faras Eglaimand its wailingeven to Beer-elim.
Againstallthe shipsof TarshishAnd againstallthe beautifulcraft.
He has said,"You shall exultnomore,O crushedvirgindaughterof Sidon.Arise,passoverto Cyprus;eventhereyou will findnorest."
Passoverto Tarshish;Wail,O inhabitantsof the coastland.
The cityof chaosis brokendown;Everyhouseis shutup sothat nonemay enter.
"Surelythe coastlandswill waitfor Me; And the shipsof Tarshish[will come] first,To bringyour sonsfrom afar,Their silverand their goldwith them, For the nameof the LORDyour God,And for the HolyOneof IsraelbecauseHe has glorifiedyou.
"For crossto the coastlandsof Kittimand see,And sendto Kedarand observecloselyAnd seeifthere has beensuch [a thing] as this!
For thusthe LORD,the Godof Israel,saysto me, "Takethiscupof the wineof wrathfrom My handand cause allthe nationsto whomI sendyou to drinkit.
and allthe kingsof Tyre,allthe kingsof Sidonand the kingsof the coastlandswhichare beyondthe sea;
On accountof the daythat is comingTo destroyallthe Philistines,To cutofffrom Tyreand SidonEveryallythat is left;For the LORDis going to destroythe Philistines,The remnantof the coastlandof Caphtor.
Now in the eleventhyear,on the firstof the month,the wordof the LORDcameto me saying,
"Sonof man,becauseTyrehas saidconcerningJerusalem,'Aha,the gatewayof the peoplesis broken;it has openedto me. I shall be filled,[now that] she is laidwaste,'
And they will maketheir voiceheardoveryou And will crybitterly.They will castduston their heads,They will wallowin ashes.
"Of oaksfrom Bashanthey have madeyour oars;With ivorythey have inlaidyour deckof boxwoodfrom the coastlandsof Cyprus.
"For shipsof Kittimwill comeagainst him; therefore he will be disheartenedand will returnand becomeenragedat the holycovenantand takeaction;so he will comebackand showregardfor those who forsakethe holycovenant.
But Jonahroseup to fleeto Tarshishfrom the presenceof the LORD.So he wentdownto Joppa,founda shipwhich was goingto Tarshish,paidthe fareand wentdowninto it to gowith them to Tarshishfrom the presenceof the LORD.
"But ships[shall come] from the coastof Kittim,And they shall afflictAsshurand will afflictEber;So they also[will come] to destruction."
"Woeto you, Chorazin!Woeto you, Bethsaida!For ifthe miracleshad been performedin Tyreand Sidonwhichoccurredin you, they would have repentedlong ago,sittingin sackclothand ashes.
The borderturnedto Ramahand to the fortifiedcityof Tyre;then the borderturnedto Hosah,and it endedat the seaby the regionof Achzib.
