"Then afterthe sixty-twoweeksthe Messiahwill be cutoffand havenothing,and the peopleof the princewho is to comewill destroythe cityand the sanctuary.And its end[will come] with a flood;even to the endthere will be war;desolationsare determined.
So they saidto the king,"The manwhoconsumedus and whoplannedto exterminateus from remainingwithin anyborderof Israel,
My strengthis driedup like a potsherd,And my tonguecleavesto my jaws;And You layme in the dustof death.
Behold,the Lordhas a strongand mighty[agent]; As a stormof hail,a tempestof destruction,Like a stormof mightyoverflowingwaters,He has cast[it] downto the earthwith [His] hand.
And nowdo not carryon as scoffers,Oryour fetterswill be madestronger;For I have heardfrom the LordGODof hostsOf decisivedestructionon allthe earth.
By oppressionand judgmentHe was takenaway; And as for His generation,whoconsideredThat He was cutoffout of the landof the livingFor the transgressionof my people,to whom the stroke[was due]?
"Now therefore,behold,the Lordis about to bringon them the strongand abundantwatersof the Euphrates,[Even] the kingof Assyriaand allhis glory;And it will riseup overallits channelsand gooverallits banks.
Whois thisthat riseslike the Nile,Like the riverswhose waterssurgeabout?
"The seahas comeup overBabylon;She has been engulfedwith its tumultuouswaves.
"His sonswill mobilizeand assemblea multitudeof greatforces;and one of them will keepon comingand overflowand passthrough,that he may againwagewarup to his [very] fortress.
"He will sethis faceto comewith the powerof his wholekingdom,bringing with him a proposalof peacewhich he will putinto effect;he will also givehim the daughterof womento ruinit. But she will not takea stand[for him] or be on his side.
"The overflowingforceswill be floodedawaybeforehim and shattered,and alsothe princeof the covenant.
"Then the kingwill doas he pleases,and he will exaltand magnifyhimself aboveeverygodand will speakmonstrousthingsagainstthe Godof gods;and he will prosperuntilthe indignationis finished,for that which is decreedwill be done.
"And he will makea firmcovenantwith the manyfor oneweek,but in the middleof the weekhe will puta stopto sacrificeand grain offering;and on the wingof abominations[will come] one who makesdesolate,even untila completedestruction,one that is decreed,is pouredout on the one who makesdesolate."
And the LORD said,"Namehim Lo-ammi,for you are not My peopleand I am not your God."
"Becauseof thiswill not the landquakeAnd everyonewho dwellsin it mourn?Indeed, allof it will riseup like the Nile,And it will be tossedaboutAnd subsidelike the Nileof Egypt.
The LordGODof hosts,The One who touchesthe landso that it melts,And allthose who dwellin it mourn,And allof it risesup like the NileAnd subsideslike the Nileof Egypt;
But with an overflowingfloodHe will makea completeendof its site,And will pursueHis enemiesinto darkness.
"The kingdomof heavenmay be comparedto a kingwhogavea wedding feastfor his son.
"But the kingwas enraged,and he senthis armiesand destroyedthosemurderersand settheir cityon fire.
"Behold,your houseis being leftto you desolate!
And He saidto them, "Do you not seeallthese things?TrulyI sayto you, not one stoneherewill be leftupon another,whichwill not be torn down."
And Jesussaidto him, "Do you seethesegreatbuildings?Not one stonewill be leftupon anotherwhichwill not be torn down."
"Whenyou hearof warsand rumorsof wars,do not be frightened;[those things] musttake place;but [that is] not yetthe end.
And He saidto them, "Elijahdoes firstcomeand restoreall things.And [yet] howis it writtenof the Sonof Manthat He will suffermany thingsand be treated with contempt?
and they will fallby the edgeof the sword,and will be led captiveinto allthe nations;and Jerusalemwill be trampled underfoot by the Gentilesuntilthe timesof the Gentilesare fulfilled.
"[As for] these thingswhichyou are lookingat, the dayswill comein whichthere will not be leftone stoneupon anotherwhichwill not be torn down."
"Was it not necessaryfor the Christto sufferthese thingsand to enterinto His glory?"
and He saidto them, "Thusit is written,that the Christwould sufferand rise againfrom the deadthe thirdday,
"I will not speakmuchmorewith you, for the rulerof the worldis coming,and he hasnothingin Me;
He madeHim who knewnosin[to be] sinon our behalf,sothat we might becomethe righteousnessof Godin Him.
Christredeemedus from the curseof the Law,having becomea cursefor us-- for it is written,"CURSEDIS EVERYONEWHO HANGSON A TREE"--
For you have been calledfor thispurpose, sinceChristalsosufferedfor you, leavingyou an examplefor you to followin His steps,
and He Himselfboreour sinsin His bodyon the cross,sothat we might dieto sinand liveto righteousness;for by His woundsyou were healed.
For Christalsodiedfor sinsonce for all,[the] justfor [the] unjust,sothat He might bringus to God,having been put to deathin the flesh,but made alivein the spirit;
