² H4428That the kingH559said[H8799] H5416unto NathanH5030the prophetH7200, See[H8798] H3427now, I dwell[H8802] H1004in an houseH730of cedarH727, but the arkH430of GodH3427dwelleth[H8802] H8432withinH3407curtains.

³ H5416And NathanH559said[H8799] H4428to the kingH3212, Go[H8798] H6213, do[H8798] H3824all that is in thine heartH3068; for the LORD is with thee.

⁴ H3915And it came to pass that nightH1697, that the wordH3068of the LORDH5416came unto NathanH559, saying[H8800] ,

⁵ H3212Go[H8798] H559and tell[H8804] H5650my servantH1732DavidH559, Thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH1129, Shalt thou build[H8799] H1004me an houseH3427for me to dwell in[H8800] ?

⁶ H3427Whereas I have not dwelt[H8804] H1004in any houseH3117since the timeH5927that I brought up[H8687] H1121the childrenH3478of IsraelH4714out of EgyptH3117, even to this dayH1980, but have walked[H8693] H168in a tentH4908and in a tabernacle.

⁷ H1980In all the places wherein I have walked[H8694] H1121with all the childrenH3478of IsraelH1696spake[H8765] H1697I a wordH259with anyH7626of the tribesH3478of IsraelH6680, whom I commanded[H8765] H7462to feed[H8800] H5971my peopleH3478IsraelH559, saying[H8800] H1129, Why build[H8804] H1004ye not me an houseH730of cedar?

⁸ H559Now therefore so shalt thou say[H8799] H5650unto my servantH1732DavidH559, Thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH6635of hostsH3947, I took[H8804] H5116thee from the sheepcoteH310, from followingH6629the sheepH5057, to be rulerH5971over my peopleH3478, over Israel:

⁹ H1980And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest[H8804] H3772, and have cut off[H8686] H341all thine enemies[H8802] H6440out of thy sightH6213, and have made[H8804] H1419thee a greatH8034nameH8034, like unto the nameH1419of the greatH776men that are in the earth.

¹⁰ H7760Moreover I will appoint[H8804] H4725a placeH5971for my peopleH3478IsraelH5193, and will plant[H8804] H7931them, that they may dwell[H8804] H7264in a place of their own, and move[H8799] H1121no more; neither shall the childrenH5766of wickednessH6031afflict[H8763] H3254them any more[H8686] H7223, as beforetime,

¹¹ H3117And as since the timeH6680that I commanded[H8765] H8199judges[H8802] H5971to be over my peopleH3478IsraelH5117, and have caused thee to rest[H8689] H341from all thine enemies[H8802] H3068. Also the LORDH5046telleth[H8689] H6213thee that he will make[H8799] H1004thee an house.

¹² H3117And when thy daysH4390be fulfilled[H8799] H7901, and thou shalt sleep[H8804] H1with thy fathersH6965, I will set up[H8689] H2233thy seedH310afterH3318thee, which shall proceed[H8799] H4578out of thy bowelsH3559, and I will establish[H8689] H4467his kingdom.

¹³ H1129He shall build[H8799] H1004an houseH8034for my nameH3559, and I will stablish[H8790] H3678the throneH4467of his kingdomH5704forH5769ever.

¹⁴ H1I will be his fatherH1121, and he shall be my sonH5753. If he commit iniquity[H8687] H3198, I will chasten[H8689] H7626him with the rodH582of menH5061, and with the stripesH1121of the childrenH120of men:

¹⁵ H2617But my mercyH5493shall not depart away[H8799] H5493from him, as I took[H8689] H7586it from SaulH5493, whom I put away[H8689] H6440before thee.

¹⁶ H1004And thine houseH4467and thy kingdomH539shall be established[H8738] H5704forH5769everH6440beforeH3678thee: thy throneH3559shall be established[H8737] H5704forH5769ever.

¹⁷ H1697According to all these wordsH2384, and according to all this visionH5416, so did NathanH1696speak[H8765] H1732unto David.

¹⁸ H935Then went[H8799] H4428kingH1732DavidH3427in, and sat[H8799] H6440beforeH3068the LORDH559, and he said[H8799] H136, Who am I, O LordH3069GODH1004? and what is my houseH935, that thou hast brought[H8689] H1988me hitherto?

¹⁹ H6994And this was yet a small thing[H8799] H5869in thy sightH136, O LordH3069GODH1696; but thou hast spoken[H8762] H5650also of thy servant'sH1004houseH7350for a great while to comeH8452. And is this the mannerH120of manH136, O LordH3069GOD?

²⁰ H3254And what canH1732DavidH1696say[H8763] H3254more[H8686] H136unto thee? for thou, LordH3069GODH3045, knowest[H8804] H5650thy servant.

²¹ H1697For thy word'sH3820sake, and according to thine own heartH6213, hast thou done[H8804] H1420all these great thingsH5650, to make thy servantH3045know[H8687]  them .

²² H1431Wherefore thou art great[H8804] H3068, O LORDH430GodH430: for there is none like thee, neither is there any GodH2108besideH8085thee, according to all that we have heard[H8804] H241with our ears.

²³ H259And what oneH1471nationH776in the earthH5971is like thy peopleH3478, even like IsraelH430, whom GodH1980went[H8804] H6299to redeem[H8800] H5971for a peopleH7760to himself, and to make[H8800] H8034him a nameH6213, and to do[H8800] H1420for you great thingsH3372and terrible[H8737] H776, for thy landH6440, beforeH5971thy peopleH6299, which thou redeemedst[H8804] H4714to thee from EgyptH1471, from the nationsH430and their gods?

²⁴ H3559For thou hast confirmed[H8787] H5971to thyself thy peopleH3478IsraelH5971to be a peopleH5704unto thee forH5769everH3068: and thou, LORDH1961, art become[H8804] H430their God.

²⁵ H3068And now, O LORDH430GodH1697, the wordH1696that thou hast spoken[H8765] H5650concerning thy servantH1004, and concerning his houseH6965, establish[H8685] H5704it forH5769everH6213, and do[H8798] H1696as thou hast said[H8765] .

²⁶ H8034And let thy nameH1431be magnified[H8799] H5704forH5769everH559, saying[H8800] H3068, The LORDH6635of hostsH430is the GodH3478over IsraelH1004: and let the houseH5650of thy servantH1732DavidH3559be established[H8737] H6440before thee.

²⁷ H3068For thou, O LORDH6635of hostsH430, GodH3478of IsraelH1540, hast revealed[H8804] H241 H5650to thy servantH559, saying[H8800] H1129, I will build[H8799] H1004thee an houseH5650: therefore hath thy servantH4672found[H8804] H3820in his heartH6419to pray[H8692] H8605this prayer unto thee.

²⁸ H136And now, O LordH3069GODH430, thou art that GodH1697, and thy wordsH571be trueH1696, and thou hast promised[H8762] H2896this goodnessH5650unto thy servant:

²⁹ H2974Therefore now let it please[H8685] H1288thee to bless[H8761] H1004the houseH5650of thy servantH5769, that it may continue for everH6440beforeH136thee: for thou, O LordH3069GODH1696, hast spoken[H8765] H1293it : and with thy blessingH1004let the houseH5650of thy servantH1288be blessed[H8792] H5769for ever.
