² H935And I will come[H8799] H3023upon him while he is wearyH7504and weakH3027handedH2729, and will make him afraid[H8689] H5971: and all the peopleH5127that are with him shall flee[H8804] H5221; and I will smite[H8689] H4428the king only:

³ H7725And I will bring back[H8686] H5971all the peopleH376unto thee: the manH1245whom thou seekest[H8764] H7725is as if all returned[H8800] H5971: so all the peopleH7965shall be in peace.

⁴ H1697And the sayingH3474pleased[H8799] H53AbsalomH5869wellH2205, and all the eldersH3478of Israel.

⁵ H559Then said[H8799] H53AbsalomH7121, Call[H8798] H2365now HushaiH757the ArchiteH8085also, and let us hear[H8799] H6310likewise what he saith.

⁶ H2365And when HushaiH935was come[H8799] H53to AbsalomH53, AbsalomH559spake[H8799] H559unto him, saying[H8800] H302, AhithophelH1696hath spoken[H8765] H1697after this mannerH6213: shall we do[H8799] H1697after his sayingH1696? if not; speak[H8761]  thou.

⁷ H2365And HushaiH559said[H8799] H53unto AbsalomH6098, The counselH302that AhithophelH3289hath given[H8804] H2896is not goodH6471at this time.

⁸ H559For, said[H8799] H2365HushaiH3045, thou knowest[H8804] H1thy fatherH582and his menH1368, that they be mighty menH4751, and they be chafedH5315in their mindsH1677, as a bearH7909robbedH7704of her whelps in the fieldH1: and thy fatherH376is a manH4421of warH3885, and will not lodge[H8799] H5971with the people.

⁹ H2244Behold, he is hid[H8737] H259now in someH6354pitH259, or in someH4725other placeH5307: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown[H8800] H8462at the firstH8085, that whosoever[H8802] H8085heareth[H8804] H559it will say[H8804] H4046, There is a slaughterH5971among the peopleH310that followH53Absalom.

¹⁰ H1121And he also that is valiantH2428 H3820, whose heartH3820is as the heartH738of a lionH4549, shall utterly[H8736] H4549melt[H8735] H3478: for all IsraelH3045knoweth[H8802] H1that thy fatherH1368is a mighty manH2428, and they which be with him are valiantH1121men.

¹¹ H3289Therefore I counsel[H8804] H3478that all IsraelH622be generally[H8736] H622gathered[H8735] H1835unto thee, from DanH884even to BeershebaH2344, as the sandH3220that is by the seaH7230for multitudeH1980; and that thou go[H8802] H7128to battleH6440in thine own person.

¹² H935So shall we come[H8804] H259upon him in someH4725placeH4672where he shall be found[H8738] H5168, and we will lightH2919upon him as the dewH5307falleth[H8799] H127on the groundH582: and of him and of all the menH3498that are with him there shall not be left[H8738] H1571so much asH259one.

¹³ H518Moreover, ifH622he be gotten[H8735] H5892into a cityH3478, then shall all IsraelH5375bring[H8689] H2256ropesH5892to that cityH5498, and we will draw[H8804] H5158it into the riverH1571, until there be not oneH6872small stoneH4672found[H8738]  there.

¹⁴ H53And AbsalomH376and all the menH3478of IsraelH559said[H8799] H6098, The counselH2365of HushaiH757the ArchiteH2896is betterH6098than the counselH302of AhithophelH3068. For the LORDH6680had appointed[H8765] H6565to defeat[H8687] H2896the goodH6098counselH302of AhithophelH5668, to the intentH3068that the LORDH935might bring[H8687] H7451evilH53upon Absalom.

¹⁵ H559Then said[H8799] H2365HushaiH6659unto ZadokH54and to AbiatharH3548the priestsH302, Thus and thus did AhithophelH3289counsel[H8804] H53AbsalomH2205and the eldersH3478of IsraelH3289; and thus and thus have I counselled[H8804] .

¹⁶ H7971Now therefore send[H8798] H4120quicklyH5046, and tell[H8685] H1732DavidH559, saying[H8800] H3885, Lodge[H8799] H3915not this nightH6160in the plains[H8675] H5679 H4057of the wildernessH5674, but speedily[H8800] H5674pass over[H8799] H4428; lest the kingH1104be swallowed up[H8792] H5971, and all the people that are with him.

¹⁷ H3083Now JonathanH290and AhimaazH5975stayed[H8802] H5883by EnrogelH3201; for they might[H8799] H7200not be seen[H8736] H935to come[H8800] H5892into the cityH8198: and a wenchH1980went[H8804] H5046and told[H8689] H3212them; and they went[H8799] H5046and told[H8689] H4428kingH1732David.

¹⁸ H5288Nevertheless a ladH7200saw[H8799] H5046them, and told[H8686] H53AbsalomH3212: but they went[H8799] H8147bothH4120of them away quicklyH935, and came[H8799] H376to a man'sH1004houseH980in BahurimH875, which had a wellH2691in his courtH8033; whitherH3381they went down[H8799] .

¹⁹ H802And the womanH3947took[H8799] H6566and spread[H8799] H4539a coveringH875over the well'sH6440mouthH7849, and spread[H8799] H7383ground cornH1697thereon; and the thingH3045was not known[H8738] .

²⁰ H53And when Absalom'sH5650servantsH935came[H8799] H802to the womanH1004to the houseH559, they said[H8799] H290, Where is AhimaazH3083and JonathanH802? And the womanH559said[H8799] H5674unto them, They be gone over[H8804] H4323the brookH4325of waterH1245. And when they had sought[H8762] H4672and could not find[H8804] H7725them, they returned[H8799] H3389to Jerusalem.

²¹ H310And it came to pass, afterH3212they were departed[H8800] H5927, that they came up[H8799] H875out of the wellH3212, and went[H8799] H5046and told[H8686] H4428kingH1732DavidH559, and said[H8799] H1732unto DavidH6965, Arise[H8798] H4120, and pass quicklyH5674over[H8798] H4325the waterH302: for thus hath AhithophelH3289counselled[H8804]  against you.

²² H1732Then DavidH6965arose[H8799] H5971, and all the peopleH5674that were with him, and they passed over[H8799] H3383JordanH1242: by the morningH216lightH5737there lacked[H8738] H259not oneH5674of them that was not gone over[H8804] H3383Jordan.

²³ H302And when AhithophelH7200saw[H8804] H6098that his counselH6213was not followed[H8738] H2280, he saddled[H8799] H2543his assH6965, and arose[H8799] H3212, and gat him home[H8799] H1004to his houseH5892, to his cityH1004, and put his householdH6680in order[H8762] H2614, and hanged[H8735] H4191himself, and died[H8799] H6912, and was buried[H8735] H6913in the sepulchreH1of his father.

²⁴ H1732Then DavidH935came[H8804] H4266to MahanaimH53. And AbsalomH5674passed over[H8804] H3383JordanH376, he and all the menH3478of Israel with him.

²⁵ H53And AbsalomH7760made[H8804] H6021AmasaH6635captain of the hostH3097instead of JoabH6021: which AmasaH376was a man'sH1121sonH8034, whose nameH3501was IthraH3481an IsraeliteH935, that went in[H8804] H26to AbigailH1323the daughterH5176of NahashH269, sisterH6870to ZeruiahH3097Joab'sH517mother.

²⁶ H3478So IsraelH53and AbsalomH2583pitched[H8799] H776in the landH1568of Gilead.

²⁷ H1732And it came to pass, when DavidH935was come[H8800] H4266to MahanaimH7629, that ShobiH1121the sonH5176of NahashH7237of RabbahH1121of the childrenH5983of AmmonH4353, and MachirH1121the sonH5988of AmmielH3810of LodebarH1271, and BarzillaiH1569the GileaditeH7274of Rogelim,

²⁹ H1706And honeyH2529, and butterH6629, and sheepH8194, and cheeseH1241of kineH1732, for DavidH5971, and for the peopleH398that were with him, to eat[H8800] H559: for they said[H8804] H5971, The peopleH7457is hungryH5889, and wearyH6771, and thirstyH4057, in the wilderness.
