Everything was fine with me,\par but then God crushed me!\par Yes, he took me by the neck\par and broke me into pieces!\par God used me for target practice.\par
Again and again God attacks me.\par He runs at me like a soldier in battle.\par
I was never cruel to anyone\par \{but these bad things happened to me\}.\par My prayers are right and pure.\par
Then the three friends sat on the ground with Job for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to Job, because they saw Job was suffering so much.
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you seen my servant Job? There is no person on earth like Job. Job is a good and faithful man. He worships God and refuses to do evil things. He still is faithful, even though you asked me to let you destroy everything he has for no reason.”
Then Satan went away from the Lord. Satan gave Job painful sores. The painful sores were all over Job’s body from the bottom of his feet to the top of his head.
“Truly, God lives.\par And just as truly as God lives,\par He has truly been unfair with me.\par God All-Powerful made my life bitter.\par
God, you let the strong wind blow me away.\par You throw me around in the storm.\par
I did nothing wrong,\par but God is against me!\par God treated me like an enemy.\par
I am innocent,\par but the judgment against me\par says that I am a liar.\par I am innocent,\par but I have been hurt very badly.’\par
Even if I called and he answered,\par I still wouldn’t believe\par that he really would listen to me.\par
