Psalm 42 - Easy To Read Version

A deer gets thirsty\par for water from a stream.\par In the same way, my soul is thirsty\par for you, God.\par

My soul is thirsty for the Living God.\par When can I go to meet with him?\par

My enemy constantly \{makes fun of me\}.\par He says, “Where is your God?\par \{Has he come to save you yet?\}”\par \{I am so sad\} that my only food\par is the tears \{that fall from my eyes\}.\par

My heart breaks as I remember\par \{the good times I had at the temple\}:\par \{I remember\} passing through the crowds\par as I led them all up to God’s temple.\par \{I remember\} the happy songs of praise\par as the crowds celebrated the festivals.\par

Why should I be so sad?\par Why should I be so upset?\par I should wait for God’s help.\par I will get the chance to praise him yet.\par He will save me!\par

My God, I am so sad because\par I must remember you from this place,\par from this small hill {\cf2\super [261]} where\par the Hermon mountains and\par the Jordan River meet.\par

I hear the crashing of the water\par as water from deep in the earth\par spills over the waterfall.\par Lord, your waves are crashing\par all around me and washing over me! {\cf2\super [262]} \par

Every day the Lord shows his true love\par and every night, I have a song for him,\par a prayer for my Living God.\par

I speak to God, my Rock, {\cf2\super [263]} I say,\par “Lord, why did you forget me?\par Why must I suffer such sadness\par because of the cruelty of my enemy?”\par

My enemy constantly insults me\par and strikes a deadly blow\par when he asks me,\par “Where is your God?\par \{Has he come to save you yet?\}”\par

Why should I be so sad?\par Why should I be so upset?\par I should wait for God’s help.\par I will get the chance to praise him yet.\par He will save me!\par
