The evil man has swallowed riches.\par But he will vomit them out.\par God will make the evil person\par vomit them out.\par


God, you used your great power,\par to split open the Red Sea.\par


We will kill that person. We will send that person to the place of death. We will destroy that person and send him to the grave.


Birds and small animals will own that land. Owls and ravens will live there. That land will be called “Empty Desert.” {\cf2\super [321]}


But look at the people.\par Other people have defeated them\par and have stolen things from them.\par All the young men are afraid.\par They are locked in the prisons.\par People have taken their money from them.\par And there is no person to save them.\par Other people took their money.\par And there was no person to say,\par “Give it back!”\par


“Israel is like a flock of sheep\par that were scattered all over the country.\par Israel is like sheep that were chased away\par by lions.\par The first lion to attack\par was the king of Assyria.\par The last lion to crush his bones\par was Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.\par


Whoever found my people hurt them.\par And those enemies said,\par ‘We did nothing wrong.’\par Those people sinned against the Lord.\par The Lord was their true resting place.\par The Lord was the God\par that their fathers trusted in.\par


I will punish the false god Bel {\cf2\super [428]} in Babylon.\par I will make him vomit out the people\par that he swallowed.\par The wall around Babylon will fall.\par And other nations will stop coming\par to Babylon.\par


“Babylon killed people from Israel.\par Babylon killed people\par from every place on earth.\par So Babylon must fall!\par


Jerusalem once was a city full of people.\par But now the city is so deserted!\par Jerusalem was one of the greatest cities\par in the world.\par But now she {\cf2\super [1]} has become like a widow.\par She was once a princess among cities.\par But now she has been made a slave.\par


All your enemies laugh at you.\par They whistle and grind their teeth at you.\par They say,\par “We have swallowed them up!\par This is truly the day we were hoping for.\par We have finally seen this happen.”\par


“So speak to the mountains of Israel for me. Tell them that the Lord and Master says these things, ‘The enemy destroyed your cities and attacked you from every direction. They did this so you would belong to the other nations. Then people talked and whispered about you.’”


Israel was destroyed.\par \{Its people are scattered among the\} nations\par like some dish that was thrown away\par because no one wanted it.\par


Listen to me!\par You people walk on helpless people.\par You are trying to destroy the poor people of this country.\par


Yes, the Lord changed Jacob’s {\cf2\super [5]} pride.\par He made it like Israel’s pride.\par \{The enemy\} destroyed them\par and ruined their grapevines.\par


“It will be bad for you teachers of the law and Pharisees. {\cf2\super [333]} You are hypocrites. {\cf2\super [334]} You close the way for people to enter the kingdom of heaven. You yourselves don’t enter, and you stop the people that are trying to enter.
