I will dwell among the Israelites and not abandon my people Israel.’


May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors. May he not abandon us or leave us


The Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel under heaven,  so he delivered  them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.


I will abandon the remnant  of my inheritance and hand them over to their enemies. They will become plunder and spoil to all their enemies,


‘As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind,  for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought.  If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you for ever.


So he went out to meet Asa and said to him, ‘Asa and all Judah and Benjamin, hear me. The Lord is with you  when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you,  but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.


They refused to listen and did not remember your wonders which you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt.  , But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love, and you did not abandon them.


Why should the Egyptians say, “He brought them out with an evil intent to kill them in the mountains and eliminate them from the face of the earth”? Turn from your fierce anger and relent concerning this disaster planned for your people.


I will defend this city and rescue it for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’


The poor and the needy seek water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. I will answer them. I am the Lord, the God of Israel. I will not abandon them.


I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on paths they have not known. I will turn darkness to light in front of them and rough places into level ground. This is what I will do for them, and I will not abandon them.

For your name’s sake, don’t despise us. Don’t disdain your glorious throne. Remember your covenant  with us; do not break it.


Though our iniquities testify against us, Lord, act for your name’s sake. Indeed, our rebellions  are many; we have sinned against you.


Why are you like a helpless man, like a warrior unable to save? Yet you are among us, Lord, and we bear your name. Don’t leave us!


Why do you continually forget us, abandon us for our entire lives?


But I acted for the sake of my name, so that it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

‘I have loved you,’  says the Lord. Yet you ask, ‘How have you loved us? ’ ‘Wasn’t Esau Jacob’s brother? ’  This is the Lord’s declaration. ‘Even so, I loved Jacob,


Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure.


You did not choose me, but I chose you.   I appointed you to go and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask   the Father in my name,   he will give you.


I ask, then, has God rejected his people?  Absolutely not!  For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham,  from the tribe of Benjamin.


since God’s gracious gifts and calling  are irrevocable.  ,


For who makes you so superior? What do you have that you didn’t receive? If, in fact, you did receive it, why do you boast as if you hadn’t received it?


so that we who had already put our hope  in Christ might bring praise to his glory.


to the praise of his glorious grace  that he lavished on us in the Beloved One.


for you are a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord has chosen you to be his own possession  out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.


My anger will burn against them on that day;  I will abandon them and hide my face from them so that they will become easy prey.  Many troubles and afflictions will come to them. On that day they will say, “Haven’t these troubles come to us because our God is no longer with us? ”


Be strong and courageous;  don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For the Lord your God is the one who will go with you;  he will not leave you or abandon you.’


The Lord is the one who will go before you.  He will be with you; he will not leave you or abandon you.  Do not be afraid or discouraged.’


For you are a holy people  belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be his own possession  out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.


You are not going to take possession of their land because of your righteousness or your integrity. Instead, the Lord your God will drive out these nations before you because of their wickedness, in order to fulfil the promise he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.


I am sure of this, that he who started a good work  in you  will carry it on to completion  until the day of Christ Jesus.


Keep your life free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for he himself has said, I will never leave you or abandon you.   ,


When the Canaanites and all who live in the land hear about this, they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth.  Then what will you do about your great name? ’


But you are a chosen race,   ,, a royal priesthood,   , a holy nation,   , a people for his possession,   , so that you may proclaim the praises   ,, of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
