So the kingsaidto me, "Whyis your facesadthough you are not sick?Thisis nothingbut sadnessof heart."Then I was verymuchafraid.
Esthersaid,"A foeand an enemyis thiswickedHaman!"Then Hamanbecame terrifiedbeforethe kingand queen.
IfI am wicked,woeto me! And if I am righteous,I dare not liftup my head.[I am] satedwith disgraceand consciousof my misery.
To vindicatethe orphanand the oppressed,So that manwho is of the earthwill nolongercauseterror.
The cordsof deathencompassedme And the terrorsof Sheolcameupon me; I founddistressand sorrow.
From the wickedwho despoilme, My deadlyenemieswho surroundme.
Let the lyinglipsbe mute,Which speakarrogantlyagainstthe righteousWith prideand contempt.
For I am readyto fall,And my sorrowis continuallybeforeme.
ThesethingsI rememberand I pourout my soulwithinme. For I used to goalongwith the throng[and] leadthem in processionto the houseof God,With the voiceof joyand thanksgiving,a multitudekeepingfestival.
Return,O LORD,rescuemy soul;Saveme becauseof Your lovingkindness.
Orhe will tearmy soullike a lion,Draggingme away,while thereis noneto deliver.
Howlong,O God,will the adversaryrevile,[And] the enemyspurnYour nameforever?
Rememberthis,O LORD,that the enemyhas reviled,And a foolishpeoplehas spurnedYour name.
From the mouthof infantsand nursingbabesYou have establishedstrengthBecauseof Your adversaries,To make the enemyand the revengefulcease.
The enemyhas cometo an endin perpetualruins,And You have uprootedthe cities;The verymemoryof them has perished.
A joyfulheartmakesa cheerfulface,But when the heartis sad,the spiritis broken.
Throughouthis life[he] alsoeatsin darknesswith greatvexation,sicknessand anger.
Whyhas my painbeenperpetualAnd my woundincurable,refusingto be healed?Will You indeedbe to me likea deceptive[stream] With waterthat is unreliable?
You said,"Ah,woeis me! For the LORDhas addedsorrowto my pain;I am wearywith my groaningand have foundnorest."'
My sorrowis beyond healing,My heartis faint[within me]!
Her adversarieshave becomeher masters,Her enemiesprosper;For the LORDhas causedher griefBecauseof the multitudeof her transgressions;Her littleoneshave goneaway As captivesbeforethe adversary.
Her uncleannesswas in her skirts;She did not considerher future.Therefore she has fallenastonishingly;She hasnocomforter."See,O LORD,my affliction,For the enemyhas magnifiedhimself!"
Whydo You forgetus forever?Why do You forsakeus solong?
ThenHe saidto them, "My soulis deeply grieved,to the pointof death;remainhereand keep watchwith Me."
"While I was with you dailyin the temple,you did not layhandson Me; but thishourand the powerof darknessare yours."
"But becauseI have saidthese thingsto you, sorrowhas filledyour heart.
that I have greatsorrowand unceasinggriefin my heart.
For indeedhe was sickto the pointof death,but Godhad mercyon him, and not on him onlybut alsoon me, sothat I would not havesorrowupon sorrow.

"For ifa manfindshis enemy,will he let him goawaysafely?May the LORDtherefore rewardyou with goodin returnfor whatyou have doneto me thisday.
