"Thisis the wordthat the LORDhas spokenagainsthim: 'She has despisedyou and mockedyou, The virgindaughterof Zion;She has shaken[her] headbehindyou, The daughterof Jerusalem!
Then the citywas brokeninto, and allthe menof war[fled] by nightby wayof the gatebetweenthe two wallsbesidethe king'sgarden,though the Chaldeanswere allaroundthe city.And they wentby wayof the Arabah.
But the armyof the Chaldeanspursuedthe kingand overtookhim in the plainsof Jerichoand allhis armywas scatteredfrom him.
Out of Zion,the perfectionof beauty,Godhas shoneforth.
Worshipthe LORDin holyattire;TremblebeforeHim, allthe earth.
Howthe faithfulcityhas becomea harlot,She [who] was fullof justice!Righteousnessonce lodgedin her, But nowmurderers.
Cryaloudand shoutfor joy,O inhabitantof Zion,For greatin your midstis the HolyOneof Israel.
then the LORDwill createoverthe wholeareaof MountZionand overher assembliesa cloudby day,even smoke,and the brightnessof a flamingfireby night;for overallthe glorywill be a canopy.
Sayto the kingand the queenmother,"Takea lowlyseat,For your beautifulcrownHas comedownfrom your head."
"Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel,to allthe exileswhomI have sentinto exilefrom Jerusalemto Babylon,
"Becauseof the noiseof the gallopinghoofsof his stallions,The tumultof his chariots,[and] the rumblingof his wheels,The fathershave not turnedbackfor [their] children,Becauseof the limpnessof [their] hands,
"Keriothhas been capturedAnd the strongholdshave been seized,So the heartsof the mightymenof Moabin that dayWill be like the heartof a womanin labor.
Then he blindedthe eyesof Zedekiah;and the kingof Babylonboundhim with bronzefettersand broughthim to Babylonand puthim in prisonuntilthe dayof his death.
He burnedthe houseof the LORD,the king'shouseand allthe housesof Jerusalem;even everylargehousehe burnedwith fire.
Speakto the houseof Israel,"Thussaysthe LordGOD,'Behold,I am about to profaneMy sanctuary,the prideof your power,the desireof your eyesand the delightof your soul;and your sonsand your daughterswhomyou have leftbehindwill fallby the sword.
As for you, sonof man,will [it] not be on the daywhen I takefrom them their stronghold,the joyof their pride,the desireof their eyesand their heart'sdelight,their sonsand their daughters,
"The LORDshall causeyou to be defeatedbeforeyour enemies;you will goout onewayagainstthem, but you will fleesevenwaysbeforethem, and you will be [an example of] terrorto allthe kingdomsof the earth.
"Howcould onechasea thousand,And twoputtenthousandto flight,Unlesstheir Rockhad soldthem, And the LORDhad giventhem up?
