At the turnof the yearKingNebuchadnezzarsentand broughthim to Babylonwith the valuablearticlesof the houseof the LORD,and he madehis kinsmanZedekiahkingoverJudahand Jerusalem.
You shall breakthem with a rodof iron,You shall shatterthem like earthenware.'"
So it will be that whenthe Lordhas completedallHis workon MountZionand on Jerusalem,[He will say], "I will punishthe fruitof the arrogantheartof the kingof Assyriaand the pompof his haughtiness."
Againstallthe shipsof TarshishAnd againstallthe beautifulcraft.
Whose collapseis like the smashingof a potter'sjar,So ruthlesslyshatteredThat a sherdwill not be foundamong its piecesTo takefirefrom a hearthOr to scoopwaterfrom a cistern."
Woeto you, O destroyer,While you were not destroyed;And he who is treacherous,while [others] did not dealtreacherouslywith him. As soon as you finishdestroying,you will be destroyed;As soon as you ceaseto dealtreacherously,[others] will dealtreacherouslywith you.
The swordof the LORDis filledwith blood,It is satedwith fat,with the bloodof lambsand goats,With the fatof the kidneysof rams.For the LORDhas a sacrificein BozrahAnd a greatslaughterin the landof Edom.
Wildoxenwill also fallwith them And youngbullswith strongones;Thus their landwill be soakedwith blood,And their dustbecomegreasywith fat.
May an outcrybe heardfrom their houses,WhenYou suddenlybringraidersupon them; For they have duga pitto captureme And hiddensnaresfor my feet.
"Is thismanConiaha despised,shatteredjar?Oris he an undesirablevessel?Whyhave he and his descendantsbeen hurledout And castinto a landthat they had not known?
"Woeto the shepherdswho are destroyingand scatteringthe sheepof My pasture!"declaresthe LORD.
Then it will be when seventyyearsare completedI will punishthe kingof Babylonand that nation,'declaresthe LORD,'for their iniquity,and the landof the Chaldeans;and I will makeit an everlastingdesolation.
and Dedan,Tema,Buzand allwho cutthe corners[of their hair];
"[Hear] the soundof the cryof the shepherds,And the wailingof the mastersof the flock!For the LORDis destroyingtheir pasture,
"Allthe nationsshall servehim and his sonand his grandsonuntilthe timeof his own landcomes;then manynationsand greatkingswill makehim their servant.
"Then I said,'HowI would setyou among My sonsAnd giveyou a pleasantland,The mostbeautifulinheritanceof the nations!'And I said,'You shall callMe, My Father,And not turnawayfrom followingMe.'
"Makehim drunk,for he has becomearroganttowardthe LORD;so Moabwill wallowin his vomit,and he alsowill becomea laughingstock.
"On allthe housetopsof Moaband in its streetsthereis lamentationeverywhere;for I have brokenMoablike an undesirablevessel,"declaresthe LORD.
Putallher youngbullsto the sword;Let them godownto the slaughter!Woebe upon them, for their dayhas come,The timeof their punishment.
O daughterof my people,puton sackclothAnd rollin ashes;Mournas for an onlyson,A lamentationmostbitter.For suddenlythe destroyerWill comeupon us.
Rejoiceand be glad,O daughterof Edom,Who dwellsin the landof Uz;[But] the cupwill comearoundto you as well,You will becomedrunkand makeyourself naked.
Therefore,thussaysthe LordGODto them, "Behold,I, even I, will judgebetweenthe fatsheepand the leansheep.
"Alsotheir godswith their metalimages[and] their preciousvesselsof silverand goldhe will takeinto captivityto Egypt,and he on his partwill refrainfrom [attacking] the kingof the Northfor [some] years.
Israelis swallowedup; They are nowamong the nationsLike a vesselin which noonedelights.
Thereforebecauseyou imposeheavyrenton the poorAnd exacta tributeof grainfrom them, [Though] you have builthousesof well-hewnstone,Yet you will not livein them; You have plantedpleasantvineyards,yet you will not drinktheir wine.
"My angeris kindledagainstthe shepherds,And I will punishthe malegoats;For the LORDof hostshas visitedHis flock,the houseof Judah,And will makethem like His majestichorsein battle.
There is a soundof the shepherds'wail,For their gloryis ruined;There is a soundof the younglions'roar,For the prideof the Jordanis ruined.
You have lived luxuriouslyon the earthand led a life of wanton pleasure;you have fattenedyour heartsin a dayof slaughter.
