But I was like a gentlelambledto the slaughter;And I did not knowthat they had devisedplotsagainstme, [saying], "Let us destroythe treewith its fruit,And let us cuthim offfrom the landof the living,That his namebe rememberednomore."
"Mandoes not knowits value,Noris it foundin the landof the living.
Let his posteritybe cutoff;In a followinggenerationlet their namebe blottedout.
For he will neverbe shaken;The righteouswill be rememberedforever.

I criedout to You, O LORD;I said,"You are my refuge,My portionin the landof the living.

For I have heardthe slanderof many,Terroris on everyside;While they tookcounseltogetheragainstme, They schemedto takeaway my life.
But at my stumblingthey rejoicedand gatheredthemselves together; The smiterswhom I did not knowgatheredtogether againstme, They slanderedme withoutceasing.
But Godwill breakyou downforever;He will snatchyou up and tearyou awayfrom [your] tent,And uprootyou from the landof the living.Selah.
They have said,"Come,and let us wipethem out as a nation,That the nameof Israelbe rememberednomore."
The memoryof the righteousis blessed,But the nameof the wickedwill rot.
Do not liein wait,O wickedman,against the dwellingof the righteous;Do not destroyhis restingplace;
Suddenlyhe followsher As an oxgoesto the slaughter,Or as [one in] fettersto the disciplineof a fool,
As for a rogue,his weaponsare evil;He deviseswickedschemesTo destroy[the] afflictedwith slander,Even though [the] needyonespeakswhatis right.
I said,"I will not seethe LORD,The LORDin the landof the living;I will lookon mannomoreamongthe inhabitantsof the world.
"They will fightagainstyou, but they will not overcomeyou, for I am with you to deliveryou," declaresthe LORD.
Then they said,"Comeand let us deviseplansagainstJeremiah.Surelythe lawis not going to be lostto the priest,norcounselto the sage,northe [divine] wordto the prophet!Comeon and let us strikeat him with [our] tongue,and let us givenoheedto anyof his words."
For I have heardthe whisperingof many,"Terroron everyside!Denounce[him]; yes, let us denouncehim!" Allmy trustedfriends,Watchingfor my fall,say: "Perhapshe will be deceived,so that we may prevailagainst him And takeour revengeon him."
When Jeremiahfinishedspeakingallthat the LORDhad commanded[him] to speakto allthe people,the priestsand the prophetsand allthe peopleseizedhim, saying,"You mustdie!
You have seenalltheir vengeance,Alltheir schemesagainst me.
"Elamis thereand allher hordesaroundher grave;allof them slain,fallenby the sword,whowentdownuncircumcisedto the lowerpartsof the earth,whoinstilledtheir terrorin the landof the livingand boretheir disgracewith those who wentdownto the pit.
"Then afterthe sixty-twoweeksthe Messiahwill be cutoffand havenothing,and the peopleof the princewho is to comewill destroythe cityand the sanctuary.And its end[will come] with a flood;even to the endthere will be war;desolationsare determined.
Ephraim[was] a watchmanwith my God,a prophet;[Yet] the snareof a birdcatcheris in allhis ways,[And] there is [only] hostilityin the houseof his God.
