Now Elishasaidto the kingof Israel,"Whatdo I have to do with you? Goto the prophetsof your fatherand to the prophetsof your mother."And the kingof Israelsaidto him, "No,for the LORDhas calledthesethreekings[together] to givethem into the handof Moab."
"Are they as strawbeforethe wind,And like chaffwhich the stormcarriesaway?
The wickedare not so,But they are like chaffwhichthe winddrivesaway.
It is betterto takerefugein the LORDThanto trustin man.
Those who trustin the LORDAre as MountZion,which cannotbe movedbut abidesforever.
But the humblewill inheritthe landAnd will delightthemselves in abundantprosperity.
For those blessedby Him will inheritthe land,But those cursedby Him will be cutoff.
The righteouswill inheritthe landAnd dwellin it forever.
Trustin the LORDand dogood;Dwellin the landand cultivatefaithfulness.
Waitfor the LORDand keepHis way,And He will exaltyou to inheritthe land;When the wickedare cutoff,you will seeit.
For evildoerswill be cutoff,But those who waitfor the LORD,they will inheritthe land.
Beforeyour potscan feel[the fire of] thornsHe will sweepthem awaywith a whirlwind,the greenand the burningalike.
O LORDof hosts,How blessedis the manwho trustsin You!
An arrogantman stirsup strife,But he who trustsin the LORDwill prosper.
They will not hurtor destroyin allMy holymountain,For the earthwill be fullof the knowledgeof the LORDAs the waterscoverthe sea.
"Howthen will one answerthe messengersof the nation?That the LORDhas foundedZion,And the afflictedof His peoplewill seekrefugein it."
For You have beena defensefor the helpless,A defensefor the needyin his distress,A refugefrom the storm,a shadefrom the heat;For the breathof the ruthlessIs like a [rain] storm[against] a wall.
Scarcelyhave they been planted,Scarcelyhave they been sown,Scarcelyhas their stocktakenrootin the earth,But He merelyblowson them, and they wither,And the stormcarriesthem away like stubble.
"You will winnowthem, and the windwill carrythem away, And the stormwill scatterthem; But you will rejoicein the LORD,You will gloryin the HolyOneof Israel.
"Gatheryourselves and come;Drawneartogether,you fugitivesof the nations;They havenoknowledge,Who carryabout their woodenidolAnd prayto a godwho cannotsave.
Thussaysthe LORD,"In a favorabletimeI have answeredYou, And in a dayof salvationI have helpedYou; And I will keepYou and giveYou for a covenantof the people,To restorethe land,to make [them] inheritthe desolateheritages;
Even those I will bringto My holymountainAnd makethem joyfulin My houseof prayer.Their burntofferingsand their sacrificeswill be acceptableon My altar;For My housewill be calleda houseof prayerfor allthe peoples."
"Then allyour people[will be] righteous;They will possessthe landforever,The branchof My planting,The workof My hands,That I may be glorified.
"But you who forsakethe LORD,WhoforgetMy holymountain,Whoseta tablefor Fortune,And who fill[cups] with mixedwinefor Destiny,
"The wolfand the lambwill grazetogether,and the lionwill eatstrawlike the ox;and dustwill be the serpent'sfood.They will donoevilor harmin allMy holymountain,"saysthe LORD.
"I will bringforthoffspringfrom Jacob,And an heirof My mountainsfrom Judah;Even My chosenonesshall inheritit, And My servantswill dwellthere.
"Then they shall bringallyour brethrenfrom allthe nationsas a grain offeringto the LORD,on horses,in chariots,in litters,on mulesand on camels,to My holymountainJerusalem,"saysthe LORD,"justas the sonsof Israelbringtheir grain offeringin a cleanvesselto the houseof the LORD.
"But whereare your godsWhichyou madefor yourself? Let them arise,ifthey can saveyou In the timeof your trouble;For [according to] the numberof your citiesAre your gods,O Judah.
"Goup to Lebanonand cryout, And liftup your voicein Bashan;Cryout also from Abarim,For allyour lovershave been crushed.
"The windwill sweepawayallyour shepherds,And your loverswill gointo captivity;Thenyou will surelybe ashamedand humiliatedBecauseof allyour wickedness.
Allyour lovershave forgottenyou, They do not seekyou; For I have woundedyou with the woundof an enemy,With the punishmentof a cruelone,Becauseyour iniquityis great[And] your sinsare numerous.
"For on My holymountain,on the highmountainof Israel,"declaresthe LordGOD,"therethe wholehouseof Israel,allof them, will serveMe in the land;thereI will acceptthem and thereI will seekyour contributionsand the choicestof your gifts,with allyour holythings.
Thereforethey will be like the morningcloudAnd like dewwhich soondisappears,Like chaffwhich is blownawayfrom the threshingfloorAnd like smokefrom a chimney.
Then you will knowthat I am the LORDyour God,Dwellingin Zion,My holymountain.So Jerusalemwill be holy,And strangerswill passthrough it nomore.
"And justas He calledand they would not listen,sothey calledand I would not listen,"saysthe LORDof hosts;
"Goand cryout to the godswhichyou have chosen;let them deliveryou in the timeof your distress."
