But I am afflictedand in pain;May Your salvation,O God,setme [securely] on high.
I am reckonedamongthose who godownto the pit;I havebecomelike a manwithoutstrength,
Thussaysthe LORD,the Redeemerof Israel[and] its HolyOne,To the despisedOne, To the One abhorredby the nation,To the Servantof rulers,"Kingswill seeand arise,Princeswill also bowdown,Becauseof the LORDwhois faithful,the HolyOneof Israelwho has chosenYou."
I gaveMy backto those who strike[Me], And My cheeksto those who pluckout the beard;I did not coverMy facefrom humiliationand spitting.
Justas manywere astonishedat you, [My people], SoHis appearancewas marredmorethananymanAnd His formmorethanthe sonsof men.
But the LORDwas pleasedTo crushHim, putting[Him] to grief;IfHe would renderHimself[as] a guiltoffering,He will see[His] offspring,He will prolong[His] days,And the goodpleasureof the LORDwill prosperin His hand.
Surelyour griefsHe Himselfbore,And our sorrowsHe carried;Yet we ourselvesesteemedHim stricken,Smittenof God,and afflicted.
"Nowmusteryourselves in troops,daughterof troops;They have laidsiegeagainstus; With a rodthey will smitethe judgeof Israelon the cheek.
Then I annihilatedthe threeshepherdsin onemonth,for my soulwas impatientwith them, and their soulalsowas wearyof me.
Thenthey spatin His faceand beat Him with their fists;and othersslappedHim,
and said,"Sir,we rememberthat when He was stillalivethat deceiversaid,AfterthreedaysI [am to] rise again.'
[saying], "Behold,we are goingup to Jerusalem,and the Sonof Manwill be deliveredto the chief priestsand the scribes;and they will condemnHim to deathand will handHim over to the Gentiles.
"They will mockHim and spiton Him, and scourgeHim and kill[Him], and threedayslaterHe will rise again."
And He saidto them, "My soulis deeply grievedto the pointof death;remainhereand keep watch."
They kept beatingHis headwith a reed,and spittingon Him, and kneelingand bowing beforeHim.
And He saidto them, "Elijahdoes firstcomeand restoreall things.And [yet] howis it writtenof the Sonof Manthat He will suffermany thingsand be treated with contempt?
Nowthe Pharisees,who were lovers of money,were listeningto allthese thingsand were scoffingat Him.
WhenHe approached[Jerusalem], He sawthe cityand weptoverit,
And they [began] laughingat Him, knowingthat she had died.
saying,"The Sonof Manmustsuffermany thingsand be rejectedby the eldersand chief priestsand scribes,and be killedand be raisedup on the thirdday."
Jesuswept.
The Jewsansweredand saidto Him, "Do we not sayrightlythat You are a Samaritanand havea demon?"
"But Jeshurungrewfatand kicked--You are grownfat,thick,and sleek--Then he forsookGodwho madehim, And scornedthe Rockof his salvation.
For we do not havea high priestwhocannotsympathizewith our weaknesses,but One whohas been temptedin all thingsas [we are, yet] withoutsin.
In the daysof His flesh,He offeredup bothprayersand supplicationswith loudcryingand tearsto the One ableto saveHim from death,and He was heardbecauseof His piety.
