"For He has broughtlowthose who dwellon high,the unassailablecity;He laysit low,He laysit lowto the ground,He castsit to the dust.
For the fortifiedcityis isolated,A homesteadforlornand forsakenlike the desert;Therethe calfwill graze,And thereit will liedownand feedon its branches.
Becausethe palacehas been abandoned,the populatedcityforsaken.Hilland watch-towerhave becomecavesforever,A delightfor wilddonkeys,a pasturefor flocks;
And it will hailwhen the forestcomesdown,And the citywill be utterlylaidlow.
But pelicanand hedgehogwill possessit, And owland ravenwill dwellin it; And He will stretchoverit the lineof desolationAnd the plumblineof emptiness.
WhenZedekiahthe kingof Judahand allthe menof warsawthem, they fledand wentout of the cityat nightby wayof the king'sgardenthrough the gatebetweenthe two walls;and he wentout towardthe Arabah.
The Chaldeansalso burnedwith firethe king'spalaceand the housesof the people,and they brokedownthe wallsof Jerusalem.
Then the citywas brokeninto, and allthe menof warfledand wentforthfrom the cityat nightby wayof the gatebetweenthe two wallswhich[was] by the king'sgarden,though the Chaldeanswere allaroundthe city.And they wentby wayof the Arabah.
"The breakergoesup beforethem; They breakout, passthroughthe gateand goout by it. So their kinggoeson beforethem, And the LORDat their head."
Therefore,on accountof you Zionwill be plowedas a field,Jerusalemwill becomea heapof ruins,And the mountainof the temple[will become] highplacesof a forest.
"For the dayswill comeupon you whenyour enemieswill throwup a barricadeagainst you, and surroundyou and hemyou in on every side,
and they will fallby the edgeof the sword,and will be led captiveinto allthe nations;and Jerusalemwill be trampled underfoot by the Gentilesuntilthe timesof the Gentilesare fulfilled.
And he criedout with a mightyvoice,saying,"Fallen,fallenis Babylonthe great!She has becomea dwelling placeof demonsand a prisonof everyuncleanspirit,and a prisonof everyuncleanand hatefulbird.
