Then she wentand satdownoppositehim, about a bowshotaway,for she said,"Do not let me seethe boydie."And she satoppositehim, and liftedup her voiceand wept.
When the waterin the skinwas usedup, she leftthe boyunderoneof the bushes.
Esausaidto his father,"Do you have only oneblessing,my father?Blessme, [even] me also,O my father."So Esauliftedhis voiceand wept.
Then JacobkissedRachel,and liftedhis voiceand wept.
"For howshall I goup to my fatherif the ladis not with me-- for fearthat I seethe evilthat would overtakemy father?"
But she said,"As the LORDyour Godlives,I havenobread,onlya handfulof flourin the bowland a littleoilin the jar;and behold,I am gatheringa fewsticksthat I may goin and preparefor me and my son,that we may eatit and die."
Then the womanwhosechild[was] the livingonespoketo the king,for she was deeplystirredoverher sonand said,"Oh,my lord,giveher the livingchild,and by nomeanskillhim." But the othersaid,"He shall be neithermine noryours; divide[him]!"
"For howcanI endureto seethe calamitywhichwill befallmy people,and howcanI endureto seethe destructionof my kindred?"
"Can a womanforgether nursingchildAnd havenocompassionon the sonof her womb?Eventhesemay forget,but I will not forgetyou.
O daughterof my people,puton sackclothAnd rollin ashes;Mournas for an onlyson,A lamentationmostbitter.For suddenlythe destroyerWill comeupon us.
"Then I will turnyour festivalsinto mourningAnd allyour songsinto lamentation;And I will bringsackclothon everyone'sloinsAnd baldnesson everyhead.And I will makeit like [a time of] mourningfor an onlyson,And the endof it will be like a bitterday.
"I will pourout on the houseof Davidand on the inhabitantsof Jerusalem,the Spiritof graceand of supplication,so that they will lookon Me whomthey have pierced;and they will mournfor Him, as one mournsfor an onlyson,and they will weepbitterlyoverHim like the bitterweepingovera firstborn.
"Sohe gotup and cameto his father.But while he was stilla long wayoff,his fathersawhim and felt compassion[for him], and ranand embracedhim and kissedhim.
When the angelof the LORDspokethesewordsto allthe sonsof Israel,the peopleliftedup their voicesand wept.
"May the LORDgrantthat you may findrest,eachin the houseof her husband."Then she kissedthem, and they liftedup their voicesand wept.
When Davidhad finishedspeakingthesewordsto Saul,Saulsaid,"Is thisyour voice,my sonDavid?"Then Saulliftedup his voiceand wept.
Then Davidand the peoplewhowere with him liftedtheir voicesand weptuntiltherewas nostrengthin them to weep.
