"You shall rememberallthe waywhichthe LORDyour Godhas ledyou in the wildernessthesefortyyears,that He might humbleyou, testingyou, to knowwhatwas in your heart,whether you would keepHis commandmentsornot.
knowingthat the testingof your faithproducesendurance.
sothat the proofof your faith,[being] more preciousthan goldwhich is perishable,even thoughtestedby fire,may be foundto resultin praiseand gloryand honorat the revelationof JesusChrist;
"In the wildernessHe fedyou mannawhichyour fathersdid not know,that He might humbleyou and that He might testyou, to dogoodfor you in the end.
Then the LORDsaidto Moses,"Behold,I will rainbreadfrom heavenfor you; and the peopleshall goout and gathera day'sportionevery day,that I may testthem, whether ornot they will walkin My instruction.
"For the LORDyour Godhas blessedyou in allthat you have done;He has knownyour wanderingsthrough thisgreatwilderness.Thesefortyyearsthe LORDyour Godhas been with you; you have not lackeda thing."'
Even[in the matter of] the envoysof the rulersof Babylon,who sentto him to inquireof the wonderthat had happenedin the land,Godlefthim [alone only] to testhim, that He might knowallthat was in his heart.
Then he criedout to the LORD,and the LORDshowedhim a tree;and he threw[it] into the waters,and the watersbecamesweet.ThereHe madefor them a statuteand regulation,and thereHe testedthem.
Humbleyourselves in the presenceof the Lord,and He will exaltyou.
and becauseHe did not needanyoneto testifyconcerningman,for He Himselfknewwhatwas in man.
But He givesa greatergrace.Therefore[it] says,"GODIS OPPOSEDTO THE PROUD,BUT GIVESGRACETO THE HUMBLE."
"I have ledyou fortyyearsin the wilderness;your clotheshave not wornout on you, and your sandalhas not wornout on your foot.
"I tellyou, this manwentto his housejustifiedrather thanthe other;for everyonewho exaltshimselfwill be humbled,but he who humbleshimselfwill be exalted."
"It was I who broughtyou up from the landof Egypt,And I ledyou in the wildernessfortyyearsThat you might takepossessionof the landof the Amorite.
The prideof manwill be humbledAnd the loftinessof menwill be abased;And the LORDalonewill be exaltedin that day,
The refiningpotis for silverand the furnacefor gold,But the LORDtestshearts.
To Him who ledHis peoplethrough the wilderness,For His lovingkindnessis everlasting;
Our fathersin Egyptdid not understandYour wonders;They did not rememberYour abundantkindnesses,But rebelledby the sea,at the RedSea.
"You calledin troubleand I rescuedyou; I answeredyou in the hidingplaceof thunder;I provedyou at the watersof Meribah.Selah.
I shall rememberthe deedsof the LORD;SurelyI will rememberYour wondersof old.
That He may turnmanaside[from his] conduct,And keepmanfrom pride;
When he was in distress,he entreatedthe LORDhis Godand humbledhimself greatlybeforethe Godof his fathers.
you shall not listento the wordsof that prophetorthat dreamerof dreams;for the LORDyour Godis testingyou to findout if you lovethe LORDyour Godwith allyour heartand with allyour soul.
you shall not be afraidof them; you shall wellrememberwhatthe LORDyour Goddidto Pharaohand to allEgypt:
who goesbeforeyou on [your] way,to seekout a placefor you to encamp,in fireby nightand cloudby day,to showyou the wayin whichyou should go.
In the fortiethyear,on the first[day] of the eleventhmonth,Mosesspoketo the childrenof Israel,according to allthat the LORDhad commandedhim [to give] to them,
Now it cameabout afterthesethings,that GodtestedAbraham,and saidto him, "Abraham!"And he said,"HereI am."
And I will killher childrenwith pestilence,and allthe churcheswill knowthat I amHe who searchesthe mindsand hearts;and I will giveto each oneof you accordingto your deeds.
His prayeralso and [how God] was entreatedby him, and allhis sin,his unfaithfulness,and the siteson whichhe builthighplacesand erectedthe Asherimand the carvedimages,beforehe humbledhimself, behold,they are writtenin the recordsof the Hozai.
The sonsof Israelatethe mannafortyyears,untilthey cameto an inhabitedland;they atethe mannauntilthey cameto the borderof the landof Canaan.
Mosessaidto the people,"Do not be afraid;for Godhas comein orderto testyou, and in orderthat the fearof Him may remainwith you, so that you may not sin."
Your sonsshall be shepherdsfor fortyyearsin the wilderness,and they will suffer[for] your unfaithfulness,untilyour corpsesliein the wilderness.
in orderto testIsraelby them, whether they will keepthe wayof the LORDto walkin it as their fathersdid,ornot."
They were for testingIsrael,to findout if they would obeythe commandmentsof the LORD,whichHe had commandedtheir fathersthroughMoses.
You, in Your greatcompassion,Did not forsakethem in the wilderness;The pillarof clouddid not leavethem by day,To guidethem on their way,Northe pillarof fireby night,to lightfor them the wayin whichthey were to go.
I am the LORDyour God;walkin My statutesand keepMy ordinancesand observethem.
"Rememberthe daysof old,Considerthe yearsof allgenerations.Askyour father,and he will informyou, Your elders,and they will tellyou.
Blessthe LORD,O my soul,And forgetnoneof His benefits;
"They did not say,'Whereis the LORDWho broughtus up out of the landof Egypt,Who ledus through the wilderness,Through a landof desertsand of pits,Through a landof droughtand of deepdarkness,Through a landthat noonecrossedAnd wherenomandwelt?'
