Then Ya`akov said to his household, and to all who were with him, *Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, change your garments.


because that they have forsaken me, and have worshiped `Ashoret the goddess of the Tzidonim, Kemosh the god of Mo'av, and Milkom the god of the children of `Ammon; and they have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and [to keep] my statutes and my ordinances, as did David his father.


if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies, who carried them captive, and pray to you toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your name:


but the LORD your God shall you fear; and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.


Moreover the altar that was at Beit-El, and the high place which Yarov`am the son of Nevat, who made Yisra'el to sin, had made, even that altar and the high place he broke down; and he burned the high place and beat it to dust, and burned the Asherah.


Now set your heart and your soul to seek after the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.

*No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Mammon.


Yeshua answered him, *Get behind me Hasatan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.'*


God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.*


You shall fear the LORD your God; him shall you serve; and to him shall you cleave, and by his name shall you swear.

The children of Yisra'el again did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Ba`alim, and the `Ashtarot, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Tzidon, and the gods of Mo'av, and the gods of the children of `Ammon, and the gods of the Pelishtim; and they forsook the LORD, and didn't serve him.


The children of Yisra'el did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Ba`alim;


They forsook the LORD, and served Ba`al and the `Ashtarot.


They put his armor in the house of the `Ashtarot; and they fastened his body to the wall of Beit-Shean.
