Lamentations 1:21 - Christian Standard Bible Anglicised

[My foes] have heard that I [Jerusalem] sigh and groan, that I have no comforter [in You]. All my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad [O Lord] that You have done it. Nevertheless, all who devoured you will be devoured, and all your adversaries #– #all of them – will go off into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered, and all who raid you will be raided.

Wasn’t Israel a laughing-stock to you?  Was he ever found among thieves?  For whenever you speak of him you shake your head.’

Because you rejoice, because you celebrate – you who plundered my inheritance – because you frolic like a young cow treading grain and neigh like stallions,

Raise a war cry against her on every side! She has thrown up her hands in surrender; her defence towers have fallen; her walls are demolished. Since this is the  Lord’s vengeance, take your vengeance on her; as she has done, do the same to her.

Summon the archers to Babylon, all who string the bow; camp all round her; let none escape. Repay her according to her deeds; just as she has done, do the same to her, for she has acted arrogantly against the  Lord, against the Holy One of Israel.

Look, I am against you, you arrogant one – this is the declaration of the Lord God of Armies – for your day has come, the time when I will punish you.

Let all their wickedness come before you, and deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my transgressions. For my groans are many, and I am sick at heart.

The roads to Zion   mourn, for no one comes to the appointed festivals. All her gates are deserted; her priests groan, her young women grieve, and she herself is bitter.

Jerusalem has sinned grievously; therefore, she has become an object of scorn. All who honoured her now despise her, for they have seen her nakedness. She herself groans and turns away.

All who pass by scornfully clap their hands  at you. They hiss  and shake their heads at Daughter Jerusalem: Is this the city that was called the perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth?

All your enemies open their mouths against you. They hiss and gnash their teeth, saying, ‘We have swallowed her up. This is the day we have waited for! We have lived to see it.’
