He whose earlistensto the life-givingreproofWill dwellamongthe wise.

Whyis there a pricein the handof a foolto buywisdom,When he hasnosense?
The mindof the prudentacquiresknowledge,And the earof the wiseseeksknowledge.
Listento counseland acceptdiscipline,That you may be wisethe restof your days.
A manwho hardens[his] neckafter much reproofWill suddenlybe brokenbeyondremedy.
It is betterto listento the rebukeof a wisemanThanfor oneto listento the songof fools.
Wherewill you be strickenagain,[As] you continuein [your] rebellion?The wholeheadis sickAnd the wholeheartis faint.
The expressionof their facesbearswitnessagainst them, And they displaytheir sinlike Sodom;They do not [even] conceal[it]. Woeto them! For they have broughtevilon themselves.
O LORD,do not Your eyes[look] for truth?You have smittenthem, [But] they did not weaken;You have consumedthem, But they refusedto takecorrection.They have madetheir facesharderthanrock;They have refusedto repent.
"Ifanymanhasa stubbornand rebellioussonwho will not obeyhis fatheror his mother,and when they chastisehim, he will not even listento them,
"They shall sayto the eldersof his city,'Thissonof ours is stubbornand rebellious,he will not obeyus, he is a gluttonand a drunkard.'
Seeto it that noonecomes shortof the graceof God;that norootof bitternessspringingup causes trouble,and by it manybe defiled;
But proveyourselves doersof the word,and not merelyhearerswho deludethemselves.
Those whomI love,I reproveand discipline;thereforebe zealousand repent.
