Shallumthe sonof Col-hozeh,the officialof the districtof Mizpah,repairedthe FountainGate.He builtit, coveredit and hungits doorswith its boltsand its bars,and the wallof the Poolof Shelahat the king'sgardenas faras the stepsthat descendfrom the cityof David.
So Davidlivedin the strongholdand calledit the cityof David.And Davidbuiltallaroundfrom the Milloand inward.
Then the citywas brokeninto, and allthe menof war[fled] by nightby wayof the gatebetweenthe two wallsbesidethe king'sgarden,though the Chaldeanswere allaroundthe city.And they wentby wayof the Arabah.
It was Hezekiahwho stoppedthe upperoutletof the watersof Gihonand directedthem to the westsideof the cityof David.And Hezekiahprosperedin allthat he did.
At the FountainGatethey wentdirectlyup the stepsof the cityof Davidby the stairwayof the wallabovethe houseof Davidto the WaterGateon the east.
Then I passedon to the FountainGateand the King'sPool,but therewas noplacefor my mountto pass.
Then I saidto them, "You seethe badsituationwe are in, that Jerusalemis desolateand its gatesburnedby fire.Come,let us rebuildthe wallof Jerusalemsothat we will nolongerbe a reproach."
Nextto him Shallumthe sonof Hallohesh,the officialof halfthe districtof Jerusalem,maderepairs,he and his daughters.
Malchijahthe sonof Rechab,the officialof the districtof Beth-haccheremrepairedthe RefuseGate.He builtit and hungits doorswith its boltsand its bars.
Nextto him Ezerthe sonof Jeshua,the officialof Mizpah,repairedanothersectionin frontof the ascentof the armoryat the Angle.
Nextto them Melatiahthe Gibeoniteand Jadonthe Meronothite,the menof Gibeonand of Mizpah,also maderepairsfor the officialseatof the governor[of the province] beyondthe River.
Nextto them Rephaiahthe sonof Hur,the officialof halfthe districtof Jerusalem,maderepairs.
I madepondsof waterfor myself from which to irrigatea forestof growingtrees.
"Inasmuchas thesepeoplehave rejectedthe gentlyflowingwatersof ShiloahAnd rejoicein Rezinand the sonof Remaliah;
Then Jeremiahwentto Mizpahto Gedaliahthe sonof Ahikamand stayedwith him amongthe peoplewho were leftin the land.
"Ordo you supposethat thoseeighteenon whomthe towerin Siloamfelland killedthem were [worse] culpritsthanallthe menwho livein Jerusalem?
and saidto him, "Go,washin the poolof Siloam"(whichis translated,Sent).Sohe went awayand washed,and came[back] seeing.
Then allthe sonsof Israelfrom Danto Beersheba,including the landof Gilead,cameout, and the congregationassembledas onemanto the LORDat Mizpah.
(Now the sonsof Benjaminheardthat the sonsof Israelhad goneup to Mizpah.)And the sonsof Israelsaid,"Tell[us], howdid thiswickednesstakeplace?"
