"Writheand laborto givebirth,Daughterof Zion,Like a woman in childbirth;For nowyou will goout of the city,Dwellin the field,And goto Babylon.Thereyou will be rescued;Therethe LORDwill redeemyou From the handof your enemies.
Someof your sonswhoshall issuefrom you, whomyou will beget,will be takenaway; and they will becomeofficialsin the palaceof the kingof Babylon.'"
Then the citywas brokeninto, and allthe menof war[fled] by nightby wayof the gatebetweenthe two wallsbesidethe king'sgarden,though the Chaldeanswere allaroundthe city.And they wentby wayof the Arabah.
Therefore the LORDbroughtthe commandersof the armyof the kingof Assyriaagainstthem, and they capturedManassehwith hooks,boundhim with bronze[chains] and tookhim to Babylon.
Thosewho had escapedfrom the swordhe carriedawayto Babylon;and they were servantsto him and to his sonsuntilthe ruleof the kingdomof Persia,
"ThussaysCyruskingof Persia,'The LORD,the Godof heaven,has givenme allthe kingdomsof the earth,and He has appointedme to buildHim a housein Jerusalem,whichis in Judah.Whoeverthere is among you of allHis people,may the LORDhis Godbe with him, and let him goup!'"
So He savedthem from the handof the one who hated[them], And redeemedthem from the handof the enemy.
Thussaysthe LORDyour Redeemer,the HolyOneof Israel,"For your sakeI have sentto Babylon,And will bringthem alldownas fugitives,Even the Chaldeans,into the shipsin which they rejoice.
"I have arousedhim in righteousnessAnd I will makeallhis wayssmooth;He will buildMy cityand will letMy exilesgofree,Withoutany paymentor reward,"saysthe LORDof hosts.
Goforthfrom Babylon!Fleefrom the Chaldeans!Declarewith the soundof joyfulshouting,proclaimthis,Sendit out to the endof the earth;Say,"The LORDhas redeemedHis servantJacob."
"Takethe waistbandthat you have bought,whichis aroundyour waist,and arise,goto the Euphratesand hideit therein a creviceof the rock."
"So I will deliveryou from the handof the wicked,And I will redeemyou from the graspof the violent."
"You, therefore, hearthe wordof the LORD,allyou exiles,whomI have sentawayfrom Jerusalemto Babylon.
For I hearda cryas of a woman in labor,The anguishas of one givingbirthto her firstchild,The cryof the daughterof Ziongaspingfor breath,Stretchingout her hands,[saying], "Ah,woeis me, for I faintbefore murderers."
"Keriothhas been capturedAnd the strongholdshave been seized,So the heartsof the mightymenof Moabin that dayWill be like the heartof a womanin labor.
Then the kingof Babylonstruckthem downand putthem to deathat Riblahin the landof Hamath.So Judahwas ledawayinto exilefrom its land.
Yet the numberof the sonsof IsraelWill be like the sandof the sea,Whichcannotbe measuredor numbered;And in the placeWhereit is saidto them, "You are not My people,"It will be saidto them, "[You are] the sonsof the livingGod."
The painsof childbirthcomeupon him; He is not a wiseson,For it is not the timethat he should delayat the openingof the womb.
"Therefore,behold,I will allureher, Bringher into the wildernessAnd speakkindlyto her.
"But as for you, BethlehemEphrathah,[Too] littleto be among the clansof Judah,From you One will goforthfor Me to be rulerin Israel.His goingsforthare from longago,From the daysof eternity."
ThereforeHe will givethem [up] untilthe timeWhen she who is in laborhas bornea child. Then the remainderof His brethrenWill returnto the sonsof Israel.
But the twowingsof the greateaglewere givento the woman,sothat she could flyinto the wildernessto her place,whereshe was nourishedfor a timeand timesand halfa time,from the presenceof the serpent.
