"Evenif I have trulyerred,My errorlodgeswith me.
"In famineHe will redeemyou from death,And in warfrom the powerof the sword.

"I am guiltless;I do not takenoticeof myself;I despisemy life.
"Whatshall I say?For He has spokento me, and He Himselfhas doneit; I will wanderabout allmy yearsbecauseof the bitternessof my soul.
"Lo,for [my own] welfareI hadgreatbitterness;It is You who has keptmy soulfrom the pitof nothingness,For You have castallmy sinsbehindYour back.
"Therefore now,O LORD,pleasetakemy lifefrom me, for deathis betterto me thanlife."
When the suncameup Godappointeda scorchingeastwind,and the sunbeatdownon Jonah'sheadso that he becamefaintand beggedwith [all] his soulto die,saying,"Deathis betterto me thanlife."
"So ifYou are going to dealthuswith me, pleasekillme at once,ifI have foundfavorin Your sight,and do not let me seemy wretchedness."
