"Be warned,O Jerusalem,OrI shall be alienatedfrom you, And makeyou a desolation,A landnot inhabited."
Nowtherefore, O kings,showdiscernment;Takewarning,O judgesof the earth.
"For you hatediscipline,And you castMy wordsbehindyou.
Blessedis the manwhomYou chasten,O LORD,And whom You teachout of Your law;
Listento counseland acceptdiscipline,That you may be wisethe restof your days.
Takeholdof instruction;do not letgo.Guardher, for she is your life.
"Yet they did not listenor inclinetheir ears,but stiffenedtheir necksin order not to listenor takecorrection.
"The younglionshave roaredat him, They have roaredloudly.And they have madehis landa waste;His citieshave been destroyed,withoutinhabitant.
For afterI turnedback,I repented;And afterI was instructed,I smoteon [my] thigh;I was ashamedand alsohumiliatedBecauseI borethe reproachof my youth.'
"They have turned[their] backto Me and not [their] face;though [I] taughtthem, teachingagainand again,they would not listenand receiveinstruction.
Washyour heartfrom evil,O Jerusalem,That you may be saved.Howlongwill your wickedthoughtsLodgewithinyou?
Thereforethussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,My angerand My wrathwill be pouredout on thisplace,on manand on beastand on the treesof the fieldand on the fruitof the ground;and it will burnand not be quenched."
"You shall sayto them, 'Thisis the nationthat did not obeythe voiceof the LORDtheir Godor acceptcorrection;truthhas perishedand has been cutofffrom their mouth.
"Then I will make to ceasefrom the citiesof Judahand from the streetsof Jerusalemthe voiceof joyand the voiceof gladness,the voiceof the bridegroomand the voiceof the bride;for the landwill becomea ruin.
"I will makeJerusalema heapof ruins, A hauntof jackals;And I will makethe citiesof Judaha desolation,withoutinhabitant."
"She uncoveredher harlotriesand uncoveredher nakedness;then I becamedisgustedwith her, as I had becomedisgustedwith her sister.
"For their motherhas playedthe harlot;She who conceivedthem has actedshamefully.For she said,I will goaftermy lovers,Who give[me] my breadand my water,My wooland my flax,my oiland my drink.'
Thoughthey bringup their children,Yet I will bereavethem until not a manis left. Yes,woeto them indeedwhen I departfrom them!
Thenthe landwill enjoyits sabbathsallthe daysof the desolation,while you are in your enemies'land;thenthe landwill restand enjoyits sabbaths.
"I said,'Surelyyou will revereMe, Acceptinstruction.'So her dwellingwill not be cutoff[According to] allthat I have appointedconcerningher. But they were eagerto corruptalltheir deeds.
"Wouldthat they were wise,that they understoodthis,That they would discerntheir future!
